Red light camera revenue is down

Boo-fookin'-hoo!

If your financial model depends on generating fines, you deserve to go bankrupt

You would not believe...….or maybe you would just how much annual revenue that all those cameras generate for DC....................it's in the millions. Little cash machines that once in place require very little admin cost after.

Gotta wonder too if all the environmental crapola has cleaned up. What will the eco-terrorists have to protest now?

Google it - there's tons of evidence to that effect, but it's only temporary.

imagine owning an intersection for revenue. ...er, I mean safety! Yeah, that's the ticket.

flatbutt 04-07-2020 08:46 AM

I imagine that all the red light districts are down in revenue.

pwd72s 04-07-2020 08:50 AM

Other machines not raking it in for the people's republic of Oregon...the lottery machines in those closed bars.

Won't anybody think of the bureaucracy?

red-beard 04-07-2020 08:54 AM

The revenue is way down in Texas, since they outlawed them.

pwd72s 04-07-2020 09:00 AM

God bless Texas!

Arizona voted them out, too. Complete BS money grab. Nice to see people stand up occasionally.

My state rep did it, and it pissed off the legislature to no end when they found out later. Big lie at the end of the legislative session. I know the two lobbyist that put her up to it.

Good riddance.

^^ haha

I know someone who got one of these tickets. The ticket in the mail includes a web site to view yourself caught in the act. But suppose that you never check the link. Your failure to remit payment can be argued (theoretically, ofcourse) that you were never served. ymmv

It's not criminal. It's not a fine. I think they call it a fee. Even if you weren't driving, but it was your car, you owe, and it's your problem that someone else did it. Any rules that would apply to a ticket or other driving law infraction doesn't apply to these things.

Civil offense

Yeah, the problem is that many municipalities have gotten wise to that, and have passed work-around measures to include "alternative service" (not requiring you to be physically served), as well as coordination with the courts and DMVs to the point where ignoring them completely is NOT advised. So if you get one, check your local regs...carefully.

Yes, you owe, but what if you don't pay? It seems enough people just fork over the money to make it profitable. Chasing down scofflaws is work. They figure people will hire a ticket fix-it place and it's not worth it.

Before they were removed here (mebbe 15 yrs ago, they weren't up long), I received one and simply ignored it. That was back when I answered unknown numbers and got a call....

I did it, and I'm not paying.

We'll send it to collections.

I don't care.

.....crickets :)

When they put a new one up in N. Scottsdale a while back, being on my bike with full face helmet, I decided to keep on going almost twice the speed limit to see the flashes. Sure enough, two weeks later I got a "courtesy warning" in the mail from Scottsdale PD. In the past they had to be able to match the face in the violation photo with your DL photo. I guess they stopped doing that.
