German Cruise Ship Sinks Venezuelan Patrol Boat

Ship of Fools

The Resolute was in international waters. The Venezuelan patrol boat tries to get the ship to change course. They fire on the cruise ship. Then they ram it. But the cruise ship has reinforced steel plate so it can travel in icy waters.

The patrol boat sinks! These guys aren't going to make anyone forget Hyman Rickover or Lord Nelson.

There were no passengers on the boat - it was undergoing repairs.

No argument on the Maduro regime making itself a little bit more of a joke all the time. But it's a tragic joke (I'm from Venezuela, so I care more than average). Their response to COVID is as bad as you'd expect.

I honestly think that at some point Venezuela will have a revolution and go back to a capitalist system. 20 years after that, it will be one of the wealthiest countries in the Americas.

Thanks - my Latin American family is actually all in Colombia. All of our friends have given up on Venezuela save for one family, who still has businesses there and manages to not lose money.

Meanwhile, Maduro decided this would be a great time to announce to everyone his new Tik Tok account (no, seriously.)

Anyone waiting for a sudden revolution is going to be waiting a long time, though.

I'm in Belize right now. I am pretty much stuck here as they have closed the airport. When you call the US embassy, the operator puts you through, but it rolls right over to voice mail. Belize has only had 8 confirmed cases and one death, but they still imposed a curfew and most businesses are closed.
