Something for the Lotus guys.............
This is an original circa 1972 or so sales brochure for the Lotus Europa cars. I picked this up new at a Lotus dealer in Atlanta almost 50 years ago. If you own a Lotus car and would like to have the folder, post a picture of your Lotus and it's yours. I'll even pay the postage! Good luck!

Interesting that they made just shy of 1000 Europas in 10 years. Porsche cranked out about 16,000 914s in 1970 alone.

As a collector of automotive literature, that's cool! Sadly no Lotus in the garage.

I owned a 72 Europa. That was the first year of the big valve climax engine. The brochure you have is from an earlier model with a Renault engine. One of the easiest ways to tell is the side walls behind the cabin. In 72 they made them much lower and it seems to have followed the flow of the car better.
Your brochure is still a very nice piece of history. Two thumbs up . |

Fred, Did you end up buying a Europa after getting the brochure? I always wanted one but at 6'5" it was almost impossible for me to get into one. Once inside it wasn't too bad but the entry and exit were miserable. Here's my Lotus project. If a Europa owner doesn't pipe up I'd be honored to add your brochure to my Lotus collection! -John

Congratulations, it's all yours. Send me a PM with your address and I will get it into the mail. And, no I never bought one. I would have loved one of the later ones with the twin cam engine. However, I had just gotten out of the Navy and was going back to college for a couple of years. No money for fun cars! Fred C.

Fred, Very cool - thanks. And thanks for the fun idea. I'm sure I have some things laying around that others might enjoy having - and make a new friend in the process. -John
