Chris - thanks for posting this...made my day! I LOVE the bright colours she uses! The way it should be for an iconic brand like Porsche.

Check out her website: https://www.oddly-artistic.com/

STORY OF AN AUTOMOTIVE ARTIST

I grew up on a small farm is rural Georgia about 80 miles outside of Atlanta. My mother was an artist. She always let me play in whatever art supplies she had and constantly encouraged my creativity. My father was a big fan of classic cars and always had a project car in the garage to tinker on. I pursued a business degree in college and moved to the Atlanta metro area about 11 years ago for work. Art has always been my passion though and I have been pursuing it as more than a hobby for the last few years.

The majority of my recent work has been classic cars reimagined in psychedelic colors.

I think automobiles used to have an artistic quality that has been lost over the years. I also think you can still see the beauty in them, even before they have gone through restoration. I still like wandering junkyards with my camera looking for the next work of art that I can bring to life.
========

Great name too....Oddly Artistic

Baz, that's cool but I still sit here and wonder ... why? But I say that about a lot of art.

Once upon a time I was close to the L.A. art scene. It's a bizarre world full of large egos and lots of money.

At least she seems free of that as I don't see any commercial gain from her work. Just busywork.

Dated yesterday so you are correct. It might seem I'm hard on her but I have my views and that's what makes art different than craft.

At the very least, she has number of prints that are out of stock so there are a lot of folks that agree she is in it to make money.

Apparently many have a different view than I. Art in the critical sense isn't about money. But you answered my question, "Why?"

A lot of art has some underlying message (political, ethical etc). A lot of artists paint landscape after landscape after landscape. I just enjoy painting cars.

As for commercial gain vs busywork...well its a little bit of both.

I started painting cars for fun a few years ago. It turned into a small following on instagram and then I started doing private commissions. I've done a few car shows here and there in Atlanta and had some success with it.

I was invited to be one of the featured artists at Concours in Cincinnati this year so I wanted to paint something big and colorful that would grab your attention from across the room. That's what this was for.

Unfortunately Concours has been cancelled due to COVID19, but I still wanted to share the end result with people that would appreciate it so I decided to time lapse it and post it on the internet.

I'm glad it found its way here, lol. And I spilled enough black paint under my easel that it looks like it leaked oil.

Now I see your point about commercial gain. I agree this is likely not art that one would invest in, but more suited for personal satisfaction.

Given the slashy neon colors, it's sure to not blend into the room.
Maybe that is a good thing. idk. I like it.

No turbocharger, charge pipe, intercooler, etc. = looks like an engine that would struggle to get out of its own way and get whuuped up on by minivan powerplants!

You haven't seen my living room.
