Something for the gun guys............

Ok, guys.....to win this one all you have to do is tell me the retail price of a blue finish Colt Single Action as listed in the 1944 issue (first one!) of the Gun Digest. First one that gets within $1 plus or minus wins the book! Good luck!

In 1944 Colt SA's were not being made...at least commercially. Wartime production and all was devoted to military arms like the 1911. There was some parts clean up though.. Demand fo SA's had fallen steadily since WW1 where the DA's were in demand.

My guess is about $60.00 give or take if it was listed at all. .

~$15 for the plain version but all that engraving would have been expensive.

An update on the contest.............

Just to be clear, the price is not for the engraved gun in the picture! The price is for a box stock, blued Colt SAA (any bbl length, any caliber) revolver as priced in the 1944 Gun Digest. Here's a hint, some guesses are too high, some too low. The high guesses are further off than the low ones and one guess was pretty close but not close enough! By the way, you can make more than one guess. The latest guess will become your entry. Good luck! By the way, here is a picture of the front of the 1944 Gun Digest !

Since SC_rufctr asked nicely, the price is under $60.00 in U.S. money! No more hints! When the contest is over, I will post a picture of the page showing the Colt and it's price. Good luck.
