Good morning everyone so a few minutes ago I checked the IRS website and it now states our deposit will happen on 4/30 to our account . The website must have updated either late Friday or sometime yesterday . Stay safe out there guys .

Update: So this morning my wife checks on our checking account and $1200.00 has been deposited . OK that's great but it was supposed to be $2400.00 :( . So she goes into the IRS website and her status shows they are mailing her a check on 5/4 . Really weird why they are mailing her a check , she collects SS and has the money direct deposited into our account so they definitely have her info . Oh well it is what it is . SmileWavy

The site doesn't seem to recognize that either me or my wife exist, and I'm wondering if I'm just being stupid when trying to put information into the search. I also think the Feds hate us, they've had large (5 figure) returns where the "Find my Return" page has the money appear, disappear, pretend as if we never filed, then suddenly a check arrives several months later. WTF?

Someone that I know says that when you check on the site, you have to include the "-" in the SSN, ie, 123-45-1234 vs 123451234. I don't know if that could be part of the issue for you or not.

No, it was just that they didn't feel the need to address us yet. Since then, I've been able to get in, see that they know who I am, and add my bank account info for direct deposit. I hate giving the IRS such info, but it's an account that they cannot do any damage with, and it will get me my money months sooner...

You do realize it’s information you’ve provided to every person/company that you’ve ever given a check to?

If the IRS can put money IN that account, they can take money OUT of it.

At least that's the theory that I'm sticking with. :)

Have you ever paid money to the IRS via check? Then they already have your SS#, routing and account numbers. Just like your utility company, DMV and countless others you’ve done business with.

Even if you’ve never sent them a check, they have every 1099-INT and W-2 you’ve ever gotten. More importantly, they have the power of subpoena. You’re likely at greatest risk of fraud logging on to this site than that one.

Dave

Checked the IRS site last week for the MIL, her check gets mailed out today, so that might be correct info.

stevej37 05-01-2020 09:46 AM

^^^ I file with that form for ss.
My return was deposited four days ago.
Not for the full $1200...they manage to jab us seniors whenever they can.

Today my wife received her stimulus check in the mail so I think we can consider this post closed . Thanks to everyone that chimed in with constructive help and suggestions . Love this forum :D
