Now imagine doing the same thing with a car, and that is pretty much what Tesla has done to us.

If our lab mowed it would be all zig-zags patterns as she searched for her toys.

I hate my robot vacuum. On my 3rd one, and they're all pretty dumb so far. Current one (Roomba) gets stuck on the rug under my pool table every day and tells me it's "Stuck near a cliff."

That's how I mow anyways...no toys! Mine can find "the" ball in my fenced back yard in no time with a continuous "I'm working, tail wag"....like a zig-zag machine...I just need to attach a mower

Why did you type "their" ?
Was it someone else's lab, in reality?

My first 2 were neato. Neither lasted 6 months before they died. First, they covered under the warranty. Second, they stopped responding to email. Pretty bad company, IMO (based on that experience).

I'm kinda interested in the new top of the line Shark. It looks promising and may be my next "try."

I wouldn’t call back up and turn a few degrees before trying again AI.
YMMV...

I had a problem with my base/charge after a year or so. The support guy I exchanged emails with was awesome, escalated it to his supervisor and had a refurb replacement at my house within a few daze.

They like me

Naw...the AI in how they "learn" the house layout is pretty cool. I could do it even better though if I had the source code. I can tune a system but can't tuna fish

That's how it was the first time with us, too. Very responsive, did some troubleshooting over the phone first, had a new one out to us within a couple days. Second time was a completely different story.

I had to go look it up - vacuums aren’t my thing. But then I don’t do much AI either - a little stuff with RNN and some LP only.

You are completely right. Voice recognition, vision processing and adaptive learning. These things have moved forward a lot.

The Roomba doesn't "learn" anything...it just bounces around from wall to wall until it decides it's done.

Seriously, sometimes it's thorough and its battery will die before the house is done (over an hour running); other times it runs for 20 minutes, goes "home" and gives the "I did good" tune.

Your Roomba is stoooopid!
There, I said it, and I ain't taking it back .

I don't even used the advanced festures on mine, nor have I set mom's up that way either.

Just push the start button. The AI is indeed pretty slick....my Lab confuses the lasers a bit. I actually watched mine "learn" the layout and become more efficient the first few times I used it...then got bored. They just work better without a curious dawg .

I "could" improve the AI a bit though

Every time I move...the doggo and catus complains.
In out. Up down. Nothing is right. Like living with an ex.
The rest of the time I just want to be left alone.

Do I want to add a pesky computer in my life? Do I?
