Unemployment is a state thing, but the fed govt has bolstered it with an extra $600/mo for 4 months is my understanding.

Only Rs can give away borrowed money faster than Ds....and vice versa :(.

Might be time to update Everett Dirksen's quote, as the "B" word is sounding a bit paltry these days.

I don't know him....but I stand corrected.

Borrowed...means you intend to pay it back :(

Not "B" as in borrowed.

“A billion here, a billion there, and pretty soon you're talking real money."

The Dirksen Office Building is one of three office buildings for US Senators. The first one is the (Richard) Russell Office Building. The third is the (Phillip) Hart Office Building.

Dirksen was a legend in the 1950s and 60s.

On a not completely unrelated note, Russell was credited with the ditty “Don’t tax you, don’t tax me, tax the fellow behind the tree,” but similar phrases had been circulating at the same time, so he may have embellished on something he heard.

Just to be clear, I'm not complaining... Just making an observation that this set of people were not getting checks. (Directly or through whoever claimed them as a dependent.

According to the IRS website, though your daughter will not receive a check nor will you get additional money for her as a dependent, she will be eligible for a $1200 tax credit on her 2021 tax return if you continue to claim her as a dependent when you file your 2020 return. That may or may not work for you, but it's something to be aware of next filing season.

I'll look further in to the tax credit and see if it fits our situation..
