On these hats, is the shiny side of the foil supposed to be on the inside or outside?
I know reynolds says it doesn't matter but I think that's just part of the conspiracy to control us.

BTW the book quotes and linked-in thing is not an April fools joke, I double-checked.

Yup, the book originally referenced a city in Russia as ground zero.
But in the 2008 reprint, it was changed to Wuhan.

There are other similarities, but actually more differences to this pandemic.

I actually read part of that book in the late 80's. Got bored with all the dna speak.

it's worth pointing out that in the original 1981 edition of "The Eyes of Darkness," this biological weapon was called "Gorki-400," in reference to a Russian locality. The name of the weapon was changed to "Wuhan-400" when the book was released again in 1989, according to the South China Morning Post.

The Google Books preview of the 1981 original describes a virus called "Gorki-400," named after the Russian city where it was created. It wasn't until sometime later that the book changed the virus' origin to Wuhan and called it "Wuhan-400."

A version of the book with a 1996 copyright indeed calls it "Wuhan-400."
