In with new and out with the old!

In an earlier post, I mentioned I needed (ok, wanted) a new tool box. Found this Matco 4S 3 row on Craigslist list for $2,500. I paid $2,300. It was originally ~$7,200.

I’ve transferred all my tools from the old box and into the new box, but have a lot of organizing to do. Got rid of a few duplicate tools, but still have 15-20 duplicate sockets.

I need to check with Matco to see if I can swap some of the bigger drawers for smaller drawers.

What’s everyone doing to organize their toolbox?

Neat until he spends his weekend working on a car. Then it'll look normal.

My friend and I had a method of putting our tools away after working on our cars. It was called a tool dump, because we picked up all our tools and dumped them in the top of the box. Later on, we would sort everything out.

I realize what I have in those two drawers isn’t feasible, as everything is laid out just right. I need to organize with bins, wrench holders and spread it out over more drawers.

That's a nice find - congrats.

I've "outgrown" mine and need a new one too. Have been looking. I'm not sure I understand why tool boxes are so crazy expensive...

Were you concerned about meeting random people off Craigslist to buy stuff?

Not with this. The guy selling it was a tech at the local Porsche dealer. They provide the techs the boxes, so everything looks uniform.

I had my friend meet me to get it as well.

I don’t know what it weighs, but it took four us to push it on the trailer.
