I would not short change a 2.7 refurbish.
As you stated magnesium is soft. Some important German guy a while ago said they flex like a banana. The video is so well edited. You have skills. My suggestion is to work hard and eat the labor cost with your own skills and pay the extry for all that stuff you are supposed to do for the 2.7. Bruce Anderson said it's a great engine once the cooties are tended to.

I enjoyed that, please continue.
Perhaps emphasise again & again that cost savings can be achieved, to some extent, with a 2.7 rebuild (& a 915 refresh). Good luck. |

You should do the leakdown test before deciding to tear the motor apart. Do it several times in fact.
A SC is 3.0 liters, not 3.2. A 3.2 Carrera with Motronic would be beyond your budget with just the necessary fuel/ wiring alone. Fixing the oil leaks are the easiest part of this project. Most likely just oil return tubes and thermostat. You will have to drop the engine to get to the thermostat. The thing to do is clean the entire engine thoroughly, then run it to see where fresh oil leaks out. |

Nice video. If you want to make $$$$ they need to be longer. Between 10 and 20 minutes. If you are going to have fun doing this, you may as well make some cash.

Okay here's what I would do if you were my friend that I knew you. I would help you change the oil pressure switch and the thermostat o-ring for the in block thermostat. Adjust valves. Look for obvious vacuum leaks. Reinstall engine. New engine oil and filter. Clean the engine oil off the outside of the engine and the bottom. Check to see where clean engine oil is leaking out. You may have a leak at the oil cooler, in which case it would be the oil cooler o-rings. at this point you need to check fuel pressure, ignition timing, and ideally borrow or buy a wideband O2 sensor to check your mixture ratio.

I thought the editing, content and overall duration is good - I just subscribed as well. I have transitioned most of my technical "how-to" videos on YouTube as I own a bunch of old cars and like to help other owners. I have just under 900 subscribers and my video with the most views actually has over 77,000 views and I received a royalty check from YouTube for less than a $1.00, which I framed ..haha! I actually started doing YouTube videos back in early 2006 and had decent success and then dropped completely off for 6-7 years due to "life" and then slowly started rebuilding my channel and content as many people kept asking for more and why did I disappear. Looking forward to updates on your Targa. Keep it up. Yasin
