The first photo looks like a weeping/mini Cherry tree. That's all I've got.

fintstone 04-28-2020 06:54 AM

The second one looks like a somewhat-leggy Rhododendron...or a mountain laurel. They look a lot alike.

and a Magnolia (3rd)

According to my MG wife, working from home) her input is:

- Cherry Tree
- PJM Rhododendron
- Either a Magnolia or Dogwood - She would need a better picture and would like to see the bark.
- Same as above.

First time we have talked in a week:cool:

White blooming tree appears to be Dogwood - 4 petals per bloom. Magnolia blooms would be much larger than what appears visible in the pictures.

close-up pics of leaves and flowers help.

Sooner or later 04-28-2020 07:57 AM

Last two dogwood

Yeah, but if you catch the closer pick in the last shot...

sammyg2 04-28-2020 08:24 AM

I was gonna say "wood" but thought better of it.
DOH!

Tobra 04-28-2020 09:18 AM

I think Seahawk's supervisor has it

fintstone 04-28-2020 09:34 AM

Yep...I thought those blooms and the bark on that tree did not look like dogwood. More like serviceberry. But, hard to tell with those photos.

Photo two, with the crimson flowers, are amazing. There was a tree on one of my dog walks and I used to look left then right, then bring these beautiful flowers home to brighten the house.

agree with the above posts - could be in those families if not the species

Bill, you can call your Agr. Ext Service - may be at Cornell - and ask for more info

they will want to see or see photos of the flowers & leaves

or at least have the shape of the leaves & # petals/flower described to them

Thanks guys!
I bought the house last spring and wasn't paying much attention to the landscaping except for the fact that the p/o's had spent a lot on it. Most of the trees and shrubs have tags but those don't, I'm just curious.

I'll try to take some close ups of the flowering parts, the tall ones up on the wooded hillside are probably out of reach

Drone with a macro lens?

- good way to keep busy

Bill Verburg 04-29-2020 05:36 AM

The first is not dogwood...looks like magnolia, the second rhododendron and the third looks like a vine in a tree vice a tree.
