Recent WD Show with Porsche Cayenne
I have a gripe, yes I know its 'just TV'. The recent Wheeler Dealer episode where they buy at wholesale from a dealer a well beaten '06/'07 Porsche Cayenne S Twin Turbo. Has sinking rear suspension, brake pulling, coolant leak, driveshaft vibration, etc.
As it turns out Mr. ex-Elmoussa solves most all the problems with little money spent and fanfare. Mike however takes the front calipers to a P-car specialist whos has the skill and the parts to rebuild them W/O needing to replace any hard parts. As Mike is showing the guy the calipers, you can clearly see the newspaper-thin brake pads still loaded, there was a mention earlier in the program about brake pulsation. Nearing completion of all the repairs Mr elmoussa proudly shows the new front brake pads with the money anti-rattle 'pods' and the camera picks up the new shiny rotors. At the end where they list cost of parts and approx. man hours, conveniently left the front brake pads and rotor costs off of the list...……………………………..mmmmm. ![]() I'm sure everyone here is aware of the big Brembo's that are specific to that platform and the OE / OEM pricing that goes with it

The most recent episode showed them with a Mazdaspeed MX5. He pulled the transmission and split it just to seal up some leaks. He fixed a lot of other little things, and all in the entire thing was done in like 23 man hours. Dang, he works fast. He did mention if one took it to a professional it could cost 2 grand. They had the cost of a tube of sealant as the only cost.
I like the show, mostly to see how cars are engineered, and what they can fix and how. The fabrication he did on the Mazda episode for some boxes to cover the wastegate and intake was really cool. I wish I had even some of Ants fabrication skills.

Once you take into account the cost of labor they lose money on every car they sell. Whoever buys their projects gets a hell of a deal.
I like their show. Watched the Mazdaspeed episode last night. |

I’m still amazed at the episode where Ant rebuilt the wur on the 924 explaining what goes wrong, fixed it l, drilled and tapped a bolt and made it adjustable. Then showed with the pressure gauges cleaning it up was enough and it worked like new.
