OTA HD Antenna

I picked up an inexpensive indoor antenna a couple years ago to take it for a spin. Now I am looking to upgrade. Are there any cons to buying an outdoor antenna and installing in my attic? The reason I ask is because the range on outdoor ones seem to be better. Just curious if it being behind a roof will diminish the reception back to an indoor version. I understand that I will not get the full advertised range, but would an outdoor version still be better than a indoor one under a roof?

Not sure about the fit in an attic...but these outdoor antenna's work great!
I replaced a 10 foot winegard with one and it works much better.

I have that antenna also and tried it in the attic first. I didn't get any channels (we do have a metal roof though) I put it outside on a 20' pole and have great results. I did add an amplifier and a line booster to help with the distance. We are listed as 60+ miles from the towers and were supposed to have poor reception chances.

I put mine on my garage roof for my tv in the garage. Didn't even have to adjust the general aiming and it pulled in every channel in a 50 mile radius.
Did not add any amp or booster for mine.

The inline amplifier/boosters are critical and essential imo. I'd try in the attic first...but outside on a pole would probably always give even better results....but then there's ice & wind, etc.

Only one way to find out imo.....good luck!

Cord cutters, what OTA antenna are you using for TV?
Cutting the cord, best live tv options?
