My 914-6 Vintage Race Car for Sale
I got a phone call a while back and a fellow was asking about the vintage race car I used with HSR West, VARA and PCA? It seems the Volkyland museum in Puerto Rico is selling a lot of cars including a nearly stock 914-4 and my ex-vintage race car which on the selling website is labeled a "Beast"! If you do a search in Yahoo for Volkyland the sale will come up. Seems the asking price is $30,000 and is a tad more than I sold it for. If anyone is interested be sure to get ALL THE EXTRAS, I.E.
- Two 901 gear boxes with limited slip, MSX and other is KQV. - Cooling shirt and associated system. - Camera/recorder system. - Race radios, one for the car and one for a crew person. The car set will need wiring to a helmet as I kept mine. - Two sets of Centerline wheels with Goodyear cantilever slicks. - Set of 4 Goodyear cantilever rain tires. - Dry sump oil system has large front mounted cooler and uses a Porsche Turbo oil filter along with a cooling system for the transmissions. The pump and cooler are in the rear trunk. Engine cooler and fuel cell are in front trunk. - It does not use a key to start but a switch/push button inside and a kill switch/push button at engine bay. - The roll cage is an AutoPower and was the model spelled out by HSR West when I set up the car. Has - I think there is still the HSR West race log book in the dash. - The engine 2.8L and both transmissions were built by Mark Kinninger at Black Forest San Diego. He also rebuilt the carbs the last time and mounted headers by "George". - It has a set of the famous 4 bolt adapters to allow use of M calipers in front and SC rotors and has a 21mm master cylinder. So if anyone wants a race car that has raced and won in CA, NV, AZ and Baja CA make sure to ask for ALL the extras! In a 30 minute race at full throttle it uses 6 to 7 gallons of VP 100 octane gas, NO pump gas! Hummmmm I just saw on a website called "OldBug" everything had been sold? Hope the new owner will be happy? |

I am not sure who handled selling the doctors cars from Volkyland as it wasn't me? I figured the OT forum would list it better especially since there are lots of extras.

John hope you will find where your race car landed.
I built a drag bug named Tickled Pink in the 80s, in 89 sold it to a guy in France. It moved around a bit and it is still racing now in Italy. It has a facebook page called Tickled Pink. Shocked and thrilled to see 30 years later my home built drag bug still safe and running the quarte mile. ![]() |

I remember the Pink VW, a tube frame 356 fiberglass body car and half a dozen others as we were thinking of getting a drag racing VW powered car. Then my wife bought a 1987 930 and the Porsche life started! At one time we had 3 total and my wife youngest daughter and I all raced at various places and I have several shelves of plates, trophies and medals. They are all gone now so as you said I hope my car ends up with a good owner?

I think the building was damaged in that bad storm they had? I tried emailing DR Gonzalez and no response and I was going to try and call but figured the mystery is better anyways. I bought the car for $6,000, raced it for 10 years with 4 engines total, 2 were big fours and 2 were(are) sixes. I sold it and all the stuff mentioned above for $26,000 and this included a really cool enclosed trailer for an extra $1,000. The selling price he had was $30,000 which is still a pretty good deal. Note the car is still titled in CA with the Fast914 license plates.

He loved VWs and as far as I know has/had the largest VW collection outside Germany! Lot of really rare cars such as one of the real Herbie VW bugs, the "Inch Pincher" famous drag bug and at lease 3 914 models. He had a bunch of time and money I guess as he paid cash for my race car!
