Outdoor furniture maintenance/repair

Hey guys now that I finished the restoration of our outdoor deck it's time to clean and position the furniture . We have the standard box store table/umbrella and chairs . The chairs have what I think are called " sleeve " style fabric .

This furniture is about 4 years old and being in the south gets plenty of sun/UV exposure . At least two pieces have to be repaired with one or two looking crunchy 😟

Do you guys put any kind of UV protection on outdoor furniture ? If yes what do you use ? I am thinking like Scotchgard or 303 protectant ? Any other suggestions ? We do bring the furniture inside for the winter .Also for those of you that have repaired this style of furniture how did it go ?

Sun exposure is a killer, and I suspect there won't be anything you can apply to the fabric that will be sufficient to protect it. We had one of those swings with a shade cover in front of our house. The fabric deteriorated over time. My wife bought some sun resistant material and made covers for the pads which held up for a long time after. Maybe making or buying similar covers made from sun shade material would be a solution. We gave our old swing away and bought another that was much more expensive. It seems to be very resistant to sun damage.

Sun is a killer. Even here, at 46 degrees latitude.

I think I will experiment with installing wood slats and then use conventional outdoor pads .

I have an oceanfront condo & went thru deck furniture every 3 years. I gave up & purchased some of this stuff. It really is indestructible, but a little pricey. Long run, probably chesaper.

I like these sling chairs...the kind that swivel and have foot rails, like a bar stool.

These two were being thrown away and I grabbed them. Just needed a bolt replaced. I have some other that have torn slings that I need to replace so still working on that.

My Brown & Jordan stuff lasted 25+ years. Woven fabric center is called a "sling." Slings are available and kind of tedious to install, but not really too difficult. Other versions of the pieces I have use vinyl bands instead of a sling, and those may last longer.

I spray paint mine every couple of years. They sit in the Colorado sun, perhaps the most intense anywhere. I keep saying once the fabric falls apart I'll replace them but it keeps holding up.
