any link to the original thread?
i have no idea what we are talking about. sound interesting. i would hope as i age, i develop a thicker and thicker skin. i hope to get to the point where i could give a rat's ass what someone else thinks. i certainly don't want validation from anyone. Zeke is talented beyond anything i ever could hope for in myself. move on Zeke, move on. |
Milt, it was your car and you did what you wanted to do with it when it was yours. Kudos for that.
I resigned from R Gruppe when I decided it was just a car club...not the military where one had to follow orders. I didn't like having self appointed superior officers. Many nice guys in that gruppe, but there is that handful.. Look 171? Semi accurate...the comparison to a high school clique... |
This? Right?
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1589907415.jpg Seems well received in these threads- http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/435333-does-anyone-make-simple-clean-fg-bumper-74-77-911-a.html http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/368888-couple-bumper-detail-pics.html |

Wow! I had seen a pick of the rear and was amazed that it wasn’t a more common approach. Never saw the front end. That is amazing work. |
They suck.
:D I know a composite company that could knock those and other concepts out most ricky tick. |

I have an early car, but thought you did a great job, as per MRM's more detailed post above. |
No one posted the rear bumper picture? Here it is from one of the threads:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1217895584.jpg Milt, I remember the original threads as well, and I was impressed by the bumpers! I for one am glad that you're back on the board, weren't you on a hiatus for a number of years? Also enjoying your projects on Facebook. I get the point of "purists" but it's not my crowd. |
yes, it was the above rear bumper mod
the context was that milt had more spare time on his hands if you don't want to manf. them yourself or with the help of TRE or a FG fab place, then I think you should license them to somebody |
always loved those bumpers

Absolutely amazes me that folks could complain about that design. I think they look like they could have come out of Stuttgart. Milt was crapped on and Magnus is considered a genius. This really is a fooked up world.

It was an honor to be a tiny part of this extremely cool project. Got your PM Milt, will reply tonight.

This was just ahead of its time. I would KILL for a set of those - or at least a rear as I have a ruf front.

More importantly, and a hard lesson learned, don't take impact bumpers off any of the 911's that came with them. They do produce safety. A rigid bumper is why my wife got injured. I wouldn't think of selling an aftermarket composite bumper given the liability. Those that do are running a large risk so I hope they have lots of product liability insurance AND a disclaimer that has to be signed saying, "For Off-Road use only." I did have fun making those. That was the only benefit. Randy, sorry I took you the wrong way. It's just that your statement popped up in a mutt thread. (?) |
