Ditto, I was going to request the same thing.

any link to the original thread?

i have no idea what we are talking about. sound interesting.

i would hope as i age, i develop a thicker and thicker skin. i hope to get to the point where i could give a rat's ass what someone else thinks. i certainly don't want validation from anyone.

Zeke is talented beyond anything i ever could hope for in myself. move on Zeke, move on.

Milt, it was your car and you did what you wanted to do with it when it was yours. Kudos for that.

I resigned from R Gruppe when I decided it was just a car club...not the military where one had to follow orders. I didn't like having self appointed superior officers.
Many nice guys in that gruppe, but there is that handful..

Look 171? Semi accurate...the comparison to a high school clique...

This? Right?

Wow! I had seen a pick of the rear and was amazed that it wasn’t a more common approach. Never saw the front end.

That is amazing work.

Seahawk 05-19-2020 10:29 AM

They suck.

:D

I know a composite company that could knock those and other concepts out most ricky tick.

I am biased but in my opinion Milt's front bumper was the most elogant way to do a quasi long hood retrofit look . Getting rid of the ugly impact bumpers does a lot for the looks . Same for the rear . I would think if someone could re-pop these they would sell . I know longer have a 911 so I am not in the market .

This thread has just gotten down right nasty now.....I sorta like my butt ugly UIBs....

Ugly Impact Bumpers ;)

But that's just me :D...

It’s hard to grasp context in an Internet post, but it seems like a genuine compliment to me. I think I remember when you were doing those bumpers, back in the day. I’m not very connected to other Porsche owners in real life, so I don’t know what the popular opinion is, but I am surprised that you got a negative reaction to your design.

You’ve posted enough of your work over the years to show you are a true craftsman and a magician with tools and your own sweat. From my perspective of what you’ve shown here on the board, your taste and design sense are exquisite. You’re an inspiration to people like me who were born all thumbs and are barely trusted with a pair of pliers and a screwdriver. Anyone who puts you down can kiss my @ss.

It was a genuine compliment. No Jerking chains at all. I meant what I said.

I have an early car, but thought you did a great job, as per MRM's more detailed post above.

No one posted the rear bumper picture? Here it is from one of the threads:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1217895584.jpg

Milt, I remember the original threads as well, and I was impressed by the bumpers! I for one am glad that you're back on the board, weren't you on a hiatus for a number of years? Also enjoying your projects on Facebook.

I get the point of "purists" but it's not my crowd.

RWebb 05-19-2020 11:46 AM

yes, it was the above rear bumper mod

the context was that milt had more spare time on his hands

if you don't want to manf. them yourself or with the help of TRE or a FG fab place, then I think you should license them to somebody

gordner 05-19-2020 11:52 AM

always loved those bumpers

Looks better than anything that came after 1988. Porsche should have bought this design.

Absolutely amazes me that folks could complain about that design. I think they look like they could have come out of Stuttgart. Milt was crapped on and Magnus is considered a genius. This really is a fooked up world.

Not just you - I like them, too, especially on a fat 911. And yes, giggling about the training wheels is allowed; how could it be avoided anyway!?!?

Shaun @ Tru6 05-19-2020 03:03 PM

It was an honor to be a tiny part of this extremely cool project. Got your PM Milt, will reply tonight.

I would just like to add “artist” to craftsman and magician.

greglepore 05-19-2020 04:00 PM

This was just ahead of its time. I would KILL for a set of those - or at least a rear as I have a ruf front.

As Richard said, he traded the car that these went to and then the car got sold. I have no idea where they are.

More importantly, and a hard lesson learned, don't take impact bumpers off any of the 911's that came with them. They do produce safety. A rigid bumper is why my wife got injured.

I wouldn't think of selling an aftermarket composite bumper given the liability. Those that do are running a large risk so I hope they have lots of product liability insurance AND a disclaimer that has to be signed saying, "For Off-Road use only."

I did have fun making those. That was the only benefit.

Randy, sorry I took you the wrong way. It's just that your statement popped up in a mutt thread. (?)
