More volume!
Soliciting suggestions on how I can get more volume from my two channel stereo. Yes, my parties get loud. I use LPs and spotift for input. Here's my setup.
Onkyo TX-8160 Klischp R 620 F speakers Klischp subwoofer

Pre-amps don't provide power....but if the Onkyo can function as a pre....add two amps or just add one with more ooomph.
But separates are the way to go imo. |

I have never had anybody ask if it will go louder.
Different ways of getting there, how large a room and how accurate do you want it to sound, how much do you want to spend getting there? Easy way is pick up a pair of Klipsch La Scala, very efficient will make the most of the power you have, quite good sounding in a large room, and can be found for reasonable cost. Your 80w Onkyo will be enough to drive them. Just noticed you spin LP's, at some point the extra sound pressure will vibrate your turntable.

LOL!
I know nothing about this subject, but I do have a Yoko Onkyo sound system in my TV room, whose erratic behavior pisses me off almost daily.

For Parties? Sound 'quality' less important? Use the line out or pre-amp output on the Onkyo to drive a craigslist amp & speakers.

Adding clean power would work, but more commonly volume limitations are related to the speakers.
Get a used set of bose 901's. Beat up sets will need refoamed, but are less than $500. Argue about the sound quality all you want, but they will go loud. Crazy loud. I don't know a cheaper way to go loud. Then turn it up to 11. Gary |

Bose's are inefficient...ya gotta have power to drive them. If the Onkyo is rated at 80 (and some over exagerate), that's probably 40w per channel....pretty low for SS systems....and will clip like a barber if you push them at high volumes. The only "still alive" Carver I have is 425w in stereo, or 1000w bridged mono....but that's to drive 170lb Polk towers with a dozen drivers in each.
You want clean power that can drive them effortlessly ....it's not just about loud....that's just a bonus ![]() A 17w tube system is totally different btw....and they rock too ![]() I used to have a "house of sound"....not just a wall.... What ![]() |

What options is the OP open to? How much money do you want to spend?
A better phono stage can provide more volume and not cost a lot. Here is a well-regarded, low-cost phono preamp, for example https://www.schiit.com/products/mani. I am quite happy with it.

The rest are fine with the regular amplifier. But when I realized it became a checkbook race I stopped caring about super high fidelity and went for good quality movie sound. It all goes through a DSP first now. I can't tell the difference any more... |

remember that Loud vs power is Logrithmic.
for twice as loud, i dB's, you need 10x the power.

One thing to check on the Onkyo, you can set the max volume for each input, they call it intelli volume, go through the set up and turn that up, and there is also a max volume turn that up also.

Max wattage is only relevant in relationship to Ohms.
https://geoffthegreygeek.com/speaker-impedance-changes-amplifier-power/ Most amp wattage is rated at 4 ohms. The older high end stuff is rated at 6 or 8 ohms speaker impedance. A pre-amp will boost a poor signal so that you get a cleaner signal to amplify to max volume.

Cowbell! Always kicks things up a notch or two.
Just looking briefly at the specs it looks like your receiver is slightly underpowered for the speakers.
