Anyone shooting a Gen-5 Glock 19 MOS?

I think I want one! My eyes are heading in one direction. Old. A reflex sight seems like such a game changer. For shooting fun! I’ll probably mount one to my .22 Browning Buckmark Contour since the OEM sights are so lacking for me. Now to see it it is California compliant.

How the heck is a G19 not compliant everywhere. If I recall correctly Mat Best from BRC said something like in Texas when you get your license at the DMV, they hand you a Glock. I'm kinda interested in the Sig M18. It looks cool and for us old eyes it is optics ready.

Lenny MaGills Glockstore is in Cali, San Diego I think. He's a YUGE Glock guy. https://www.glockstore.com/

CA requires “drop tests” for all handguns (unless the laws have changed since I lived there and I suspect not, or else they’ve only gotten more onerous...) Of course most manufacturers don’t bother going through all the nonsense required to obtain that certification (the intended effect) so most are therefore de facto illegal. Of course the bureaucracy deliberately slow walks it too.

So, is it just the G19 MOS specifically that's not on the "approved" list? Or is it no bueno for all red-dots on pistols? If it's just the specific model, there are several places that you can send the slide of a non-MOS G19 to get milled for a red-dot (assuming a non-MOS G19 is approved). There are lots of aftermarket optics-ready G slides out there as well.

It’s the gen-5. From what I understand. Glock has to pay an exorbitant fee and donate a few for testing. I think the gen-4 also Whatever. It I could I’d buy a Ruger M-4 first.

Good stuff. Not a big Glock guy here, but the two companies that I hear most often from the Glock fans are: Zev Technologies Agency Arms

Yes, and Calguns also has a great for sale section where you can buy 'off roster' guns. These are no longer on the list of certified guns for CA because they were not renewed. So they are no longer sold new but are okay to sell in a private sale. Your Glock wish seems to be new, so probably doesn't apply, but if you find something else that's older and not on the list, you can buy it used. Yes, usually at a small premium. "off roster" is like "air cooled" on Calguns. G

I recently got a Glock 19 in a parking lot trade. I didn't want one, but it was a fish gill slide version, which was the only Glock I wanted and so I had to do it. I took it to the range and loved it. I'll eventually do some mods, but it's a sweet ride. All the other Glocks I've had were in .40 cal, which, IMHO, is just too much bang for a plastic frame. 9mm is a lot more tame.

I would imagine that the 9mm versions are even smoother.

I've had two Glock 23s and liked, but not loved them. They're accurate and indestructible. I just find anything bigger than 9mm in a plastic frame to be too snappy. I'm getting out of .40 altogether now and will stick to 9mm, .357SIG and .45ACP. Well, I have a .22 and .44mag, rarely shoot and never carry them.
