Favorite chair?

Question for the braintrust: What is your favorite chair?

Mrs. LWJ stated something about a "sewing room" a while back. Which is marriage code for "LWJ gets a room too!" I now have a room for audio and reading - which is shared with sewing but that is a different story.

Either way, I now need a comfy chair. Also, I sort of refuse to have anything with a lever on it. Too Grandpa looking.

Any favorites?

What are you going to do in the room/chair? Sit at a desk surfing the 'Net? Watch TV/Movies? Sleep? I suspect the intended use would yield very different chairs. A HM Aeron would be great for a computer desk, but suck if you wanted to pass out while watching movies.

How about

A comfy chair will instantly add 10 years to your body. Don't sit down!

Stressless are very nice if you can 'have nice things' (ie no crazy dogs, no young kids) but you have to test them all for comfort. Some feel great while others are like 'huh?'. We got a less expensive brand with electric reclining and such but very similar look. Also with Stressless some chairs in a medium feel 'meh' while in a large they are 'wow' so you have to consider size when testing.

Reading. Laptop time. Listening to audio. Not sleeping. Not the hideous monster recliner Steve showed above! I need to put myself on a stressless chair it seems. Interesting. Thanks!

I get it, the desire to not have a chair with a lever. Growing up, both of my grandfathers and my father always had a recliner with a lever. They would all, at times, fall asleep in their chairs.

I almost never "nap" (maybe 1-2x per year) and when I do, I don't do it on the couch or in a chair, I go to bed.

I have never owned a recliner and do not want a chair with a lever. I'm not saying that a recliner isn't comfortable, I just don't have any desire to have one.

I have a selig lounge chair and ottoman, it's no eames but I would argue it's more comfortable than an eames.

I've got a whole bunch of Stressless and have two crazy dogs and a cat. I just think what the hell and let them do what they like. The cat personalised the sofa five minutes after I put it in the living room. Showing his approval I guess.

I’ve had this chair for about 32 years. I had to replace the reclining mechanism for about $50 a couple years ago.

I have a vintage Chateau d' Ax Louis XV leather chair and ottoman that I like. Its not a recline-able but it sure is comfy. I've always wanted an Eames but never had the space.

^^^ Had a couple like that Bradington Young chair, for TV watching. Pretty comfy.

My two favorites:

Eames lounge chair and ottoman.
Eero Saarinen womb chair and ottoman.

You can go the Eames/ ottoman combo from Herman Miller but you will spend $5-6k.

There are knockoffs that are pretty good and affordable:

Personally I prefer a club chair with ottoman:

Also, don't check recliners off the list just yet. There are nice examples available:
