I don’t get that comment, the last half hour is when all is revealed (with major plot twist and reveal), it all comes together and the dramatic resolution occurs.

“Why can’t the train stop?”

There’s technical reasons (it scoops up snow as it goes, which provides the critical water supply, heat, etc), but also political/psychological control reasons.

The train engine serves as a sort of god (“it is sacred” etc). That helps control people in a number of ways. If you stop the person/regime running it, all will die, is the constant messaging. The Engine and the inventor of the engine should be worshipped (Atlas Shrugged reference it’s just coincidence??). That kind of thing.

But...but...wait...Tobra said it was a plot device, and clearly he watched the movie/TV show, since he said it with such authority. Was...he wrong?

I think we need two separate threads. One for the original movie and another for the Netflix series.

And I'm sure Jennifer is getting hotter not older. :)

I probably said the odd comment. If I didn't, I felt the same way. It's the cultural movie difference, I believe.

The basis for the comment is the attack from the hoard. I didn't get it. After watching the back half again, you are correct. It's way less hoard and far more closure. Thanks for pointing that out.

The TV show had a lot of credibility issues if you understand physics but its a TV show for the masses.

Ever notice how most if not all movies set in the future are centered around a dystopia caused by worldwide disaster, alien attack, machines taking over, and in general a survive under extreme condition or die setting. I guess if everything was doing great then it wouldn't be exciting to watch. Funny how scientist and politicians preach that mankind is getting smarter and better so we will have a great society but the movies always predict the opposite?

Finally, IMO, the last thing people need during a pandemic is something that feeds the spirit of fear. I was curious so I watched the first one but I won't be back.

One of the things I always loved about Star Trek, is they solved world hunger, and the need for money. The citizens live in peace. The people of Starfleet battle the evil of the world as a job, but evidently no paycheck.

It must be really easy to write a post apocalypse movie, just the super rich verses the rest of the world, same plot, different special effects.

One of the things I loved about most of Issac Asimov's stories, was an overall positive future, not a post apocalypses.

I will maybe catch the movie when it hits Amazon streaming for free.

I really liked Octavia Spencer. She had a smaller role but she did a lot with it.
