Convertibles and this time of Covid
I noticed now there are a lot of parking lots meals and theater activities going on. As such, do you think a lot of folks will start valuing the used convertible a little more? Now I know you racer guys will say "no way, rigidity...". But the regular person, might this come into play.
My wife mentioned a restaurant showing "Ford vs Ferrari" in their parking lot with food being brought to the car. It certainly has me thinking, may I should have kept the Boxster. A coupe just wouldn't be the same so I passed. |

For us "oldsters," this looks like it could be the re-imagination of the Drive-in Movie of our youth (only now, we'd actually watch the movie!) ![]()

I posted in another thread but a lady upon seeing me park my Jaguar asked me "do you think that's safe?" Referring to having the top down like not wearing a mask I suppose.

Get off my lawn!
|
I drove my 74 914 2.0 for over 20 years as my only car. I guess I got a lifetime of open driving. I never drive with my windows open, I have had enough wind noise to last a lifetime. If the engine is running, either the AC or the heater is running. I bet my sunroof has only be open a dozen times in the 25 years I have had my 911.
So for me, no the convertible has zero appeal now or in the near future. And drive ins were great as a place to go make out and not have to worry about security when I was a kid. My wife still won't let me date other ladies, and frankly I have no interest in dating. We have a comfortable bedroom for that. And my DVR is way better for watching a movie. I can pause it and go pee whenever the urge hits. ![]()

They are opening a drive in (no food) in a town close by. Brings me back....I loved drive ins, get there early play some frisbee or football, chat up the girls, aaah good times.
I think they should make a comeback

I feel like this is click bait. I came here expecting an argument about the safety of having the top down in "this time of covid." But instead found a discussion about drive in theaters!
![]() And I'd definitely be down with a drive in!

Thought no woman ever. Well, maybe Denise McCluggage, but that's about it.

With wireless technology for sound, high def screens, and the "experience" (wink, wink, nudge, nudge...) why the f not?
I would rather go to an updated drive in than a movie theater. This could work!
