Well this sucks - Porsche pulling out of IMSA
Man I hate to read this , Porsche announced they are pulling out of the GTLM class of IMSA after the 2020 season
![]() Porsche did say they will continue to support GTD teams , who knows maybe that is the " future " class for manufacturers . It will be interesting to see where the Porsche factory drivers will end up . https://autos.yahoo.com/imsa-news-tandy-gutted-porsche-141416801.html;_ylt=AwrE1xWTNdpedJAA.R1XNyoA;_ylu= X3oDMTEyaGs5czVyBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDQTA2Mz FfMQRzZWMDc2M-?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly9zZWFyY2gueWFob28uY29tL3Nl YXJjaD9wPWltc2ErbmV3cyZmcj15ZnAtdCZmcD0xJnRvZ2dsZT 0xJmNvcD1tc3MmZWk9VVRGLTg&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAADy9y8jAMzMSpqKDBXd9EqNVP8WH R8qpzLvIn2sEuQG9H19x-VHD8BD4FDRj3ZV1xTs5_n9z13FOobJLQClabCMBY26Boc4J7Md N_aaBE8iedIaIN3_4YocYO-iAe_ZXun6fyLO42yoVHON0h94i-TlpJcPLJQaE8ZSmXkyffD8s

Dang, that sucks.
They will be back to racing, that have always come back to racing. I just hate to see them pull out.

Sux for Core, the drivers, and the fans.
I hope Porsche comes back soon. IMSA needs this category.

I would think some other team would fill in for Porsche at the GTLM class, not a factory team but still a Porsche. Weathertech ran a Porsche a few years ago don't remember if it was GTLM or GTD. Manufacturers seem to be pushing toward E racing which I have no interest in, they sound like RC cars.

Not surprising. Another Pelican and I have been discussing.
France family, BoP (pure BS) would seem to be likely reasons for their exit. No doubt they will continue in motorsport as it is the Porsche DNA, but not here.

I was sad when Ford dropped out. When NASCAR took over the series, I wondered how it would work out...actually, it worked out well for a while.
The virus thing also may have played a role in the decision. Funding a racing team that wasn't racing...
