Well this sucks - Porsche pulling out of IMSA

Man I hate to read this , Porsche announced they are pulling out of the GTLM class of IMSA after the 2020 season . Between diesel gate and Covid-19 it was enough losses to reconsider how $$$ is being spent . There is a hint that it is " short term " so maybe they will be back . In my opinion the GTLM class has been the best racing for the past 5-6 years . So as of now this only leaves Corvette and BMW with factory teams . I can't see the class lasting very long with only two teams .

Porsche did say they will continue to support GTD teams , who knows maybe that is the " future " class for manufacturers . It will be interesting to see where the Porsche factory drivers will end up .

Dang, that sucks.

They will be back to racing, that have always come back to racing. I just hate to see them pull out.

Sux for Core, the drivers, and the fans.

I hope Porsche comes back soon. IMSA needs this category.

I would think some other team would fill in for Porsche at the GTLM class, not a factory team but still a Porsche. Weathertech ran a Porsche a few years ago don't remember if it was GTLM or GTD. Manufacturers seem to be pushing toward E racing which I have no interest in, they sound like RC cars.

Yea, I just can't get excited about watching a slot car race. I don't care how fast it is.

Not surprising. Another Pelican and I have been discussing.
France family, BoP (pure BS) would seem to be likely reasons for their exit. No doubt they will continue in motorsport as it is the Porsche DNA, but not here.

I was sad when Ford dropped out. When NASCAR took over the series, I wondered how it would work out...actually, it worked out well for a while.

The virus thing also may have played a role in the decision. Funding a racing team that wasn't racing...
