I’m hooked. Fishing.

I got it bad. My boss said at lunch time, “I’m going to head home and I’m not coming back for the rest of the day, do what you want”

I swear I beat him out. I wolfed down lunch. I double timed up to the lake. It’s a 2.5 mile uphill slog. There are climbs where I redline my heart. 151 bpm. But I feel okay and just speed walk. Hehe. I was a hot mess when I got there. Sweaty hot mess. It’s a 400 foot climb according to my GPS watch.

But damn. The bass are not that smart. Today was special since I knock the skunk off my new reel. I wore a mask for protection from the sun. It’s some SPF-50 face wrap. Pretty effective.

Nice big mouth bass.
Yep, the fever can be so intense it drives us to do irrational things. Just getting over a case of Crappie/Bluegill fever myself but fear relapse on 6/15.

It is great to find a hobby that is not crazy expensive, and that you really enjoy. When I was in high school my parents got the fishing bug real bad. Dad bought a really nice bass boat, they leased a cabin at the lake, and were gone fishing.

It was terrible as a high school senior to come home from work on Friday afternoon and know my parents were gone until Sunday afternoon.

Only thunderstorms kept them off the lake. They fished in below freezing or 100+ weather.

It seems hard to imagine now but I got sick of eating fresh caught bass and crappie at home. They brought home lots of fish.

Their neighbor at the lake saw himself as a expert fisherman. He usually went to the opposite side of the lake that my parents went to. One day my parents saw him head out to "their" side of the 69 square mile lake. The went to his side and started fishing. Dark grey clouds started forming and some guy approached them in the boat. He asked if they were in a tournament and they said no. He asked if they wanted his stringer of fish. He had been out since dawn and had several really nice fish. He said he had to get back to the base and he was living in the base temporary quarters. He had no time to clean the fish, much less cook them so he was trying to give them away or release them.

They accepted them and 30 minutes after going out to fish the clouds looked bad, so they went back in. The neighbor was their already because of the clouds and had nothing. Dad started cleaning the big stringer of fish and the neighbor came over to inspect. Dad asked if he needed a fish to eat that night and offered one of the nice ones to him. Dad never did tell the guy how they got that many fish in a short time from the neighbors end of the lake.

I hear you. I'm not so much sedentary but locked into this old pickup truck paint job and it's huge and getting old. Otherwise topics of interest are car parts store, paint jobber, Aldi, Pelican and YouTube.

Talked to a girly pal who took a blind guy fishing yesterday, triggering the idea.

I said, why don't you let me arrange a Walleye fishing trip on Lake Erie for us with Eric. Eric is down as I fix his shiet, including his boat.

I am so damned excited to do something different I am beside myself.
