Non-Chinese made scissor car lift?

Was interested in Bend Pak but appear to be Chinese made. Mohawk stopped making and supporting their version and apparently the hydraulic cylinders had major issues.

Is anything else available? Am I unreasonable in my concerns about Chinese construction?

I'll check with the guy I bought my Challenger from to see if their scissor lifts are made in the USA. I'll report back when I hear from him.

EZ-Car Lift (26 inch low-rise)...made in the USA - worm driven scissor lift (no hydraulics)...lifts with 8 amp electric drill. Great under-car access. Stores flat up against garage wall. Comes apart easily and light enough to fit into the hatch of my 944. Invented by a crazy genius and is a piece of art, great fit and finish/use of materials...solid as a rock. Love it! I seriously do not know why this lift does not get more attention.

Yep, mine looks exactly the same as a Bend Pak, same color, same everything, just doesn't have the sticker or the price tag.

But they are good.

There is a site I stumbled across that lists companies and their contact details in China. A dozen places make them to the same approved (and certified I guess) design.

Non-Chinese made scissor car lift?

I have the Bendpac MD 6XP version. High build quality. Like many products made for an American company it is made to specifications.

It does have mechanical safety stops. A collapse is very hard to imagine.

Bend pack or Mohawk. Mohawk has a monster of a scissor lift that goes to six feet and is split in the middle.

BendPak I believe IS “made” in China along with most of the others. I just ordered a MaxJax M6 2 post lift, guess what, made in China and bought out by BendPak. I’ve owned the 4 post BendPak lifts before and never had any issues with them. Really good products. I think you’re overly concerned, but admire your desire for American made.

Challenger has US production. My CL10 was made in the USA. You can call Challenger lifts and they'll tell you which ones are made here and which ones aren't.

BTW, I emailed the guy I bought my lift from. Haven't heard back from him yet.

If your concern is safety, the asphalt's comment is correct.

But if you look at the design, what mode of failure worries you? Most catastrophic failures are either unlikely (i.e. two elements would have to fail), or unrelated to the country of origin/manufacturing quality.

I bought one ~5yrs ago after looking at almost every lift that was available and I couldn't be happier. If I had a full shop I might buy something bigger, but for me and the work I do on these cars in my 2 car family garage it was and still is the best compromise for a lift.

My lift arrived March 3rd 2014. So in 6 years it has been just a wonderful addition to my garage.

I had the pit installed in May of 2014. For my uses and the height of the ceiling, it is the perfect lift.

When I replaced the fuel lines in the tunnel it was wonderful to have the lift. I can't even imagine doing that project without a lift.

Mounting the pump on the wall wall is a great way to get the out out of the way, and always at the ready.

Wow, Glen, I have the exact same lift, and the exact the same year, color, and model of car . . .
