It’s more often the assumption of those who feel inferior that there is some shaming intent on the part of another. Virtue-signaling is essentially where you imply another is inferior morally to you in order to shame them into complying (or silence). If there were claims of you virtue-signaling, they probably thought you were doing just that...much as you seem to here. You do that often.
