Jackson Browne drims, what's that?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNCuwUSPias I have never seen this version. Its pretty cool. I am started to really dig his music, even though most of his music is just a little bit before my time. At 3.0, what's the drummer beating on? A cardboard box or is there something else under there?

Was listening to Jackson last night and this morning. He's on a flash drive with Billy Joel and Honk. Ever heard of Honk, Jeff? Southern Cal band who toured with the Beach Boys back in the 70's

No, never heard of them. A bit country for this old city boy. What's up with that cardboard box instead of a real drum set, not drim. Sorry. Jackson Browne's grandfather's house he build is located about 10 min from my house. I think he did some growing up there.

There used to be good videos of "The Load Out/Stay" on Youtube, but the platform just sucks anymore. There was a much clearer ad more complete version of this, but I can't find it any more. This version sucks, but it is mostly the original version of this recording, which is still my favorite.

I think the cardboard box was just a creative way to change up the sound. Russ Kunkel is the drummer and he's been around a long time.

"You know, the drummer swept that girl away" Actually happened to me. And I got her more than one beer.

Running on Empty still one of the greatest albums ever made. Worth a listen to the whole album.

I think the drummer is paying homage to "Nothing But Time" on the ROE album which was recorded in various places on tour: "Nothing but Time" (Browne, Howard Burke) – 3:05 Recorded "on a bus (a Continental Silver Eagle) somewhere in New Jersey" (9/8/77) Russ Kunkel is credited as playing "snare, hi-hat, and cardboard box with foot pedal." The song was recorded aboard the band's Continental Silver Eagle tour bus (hence the lyrical reference to "Silver Eagle") while en route from Portland, Maine to their next gig in New Jersey. The bus's engine is audible in the background throughout, and its downshift and acceleration can be plainly heard during the bridge." BTW, that's not Russ Kunkel on drums. Russ is "follically challenged".

The title and theme of the song is the load out. They’re packing up, the drums have already been loaded out, so he has to play the box.
