Glad I resisited the temptation

When the '19 Bullitt Mustang came out, I'll admit I was sorely tempted. 480 normally aspirasted horsepower. 6 speed manual, independent suspension, trick magnetic shocks, torsen rear end...all the go fast goodies were there. My main turn off was the star trek dash, the TV screen, the electronic gee-gaws that they young guys love. So, I decided my old, slow, and obsolete '09 Bullitt Mustang with it's mere 315 horsepower and low miles could continue to get me to my favorite pool hall & back home just fine. At least it has a set of easy to read gauges...all I needed or wanted.

Porsche had it's lawsuit problems over the IMS bearing. Now it's Ford's turn for trying to cheap out on the Getrag (made in China) 6 speed. Probably the only real fix would be to swap for the stronger Tremec 6 speed used in the 350GT. That would cost a few bucks...

Here's the story....

So you are set. The only reason you need 480 HP is if you want a Glenn Miller CD at Best Buy like right now.

Lower down in the link you posted there is a 700hp 2020 GT500 vid. What trans does that have?

The GT500 will be running the new paddle shifted dual clutch 10 speed automatic...no manual for that one.

Yeah, I'm set...factoring in my age, barring future problems, I'm probably done buying cars.

Is it green?

I could deal with that car until the end - no problem.

To your point. I absolutely hate electronic gizmos and such in cars. Heck. I would prefer roll up windows most times.

I had a bmw 325 is from early 1990’s. Great car. Hated the electronic junk.

Can’t imagine a modern car...

Here is a modern BMW interior
Not that different from your early 90s interior

So which theoretical problems might compel you to buy something new?

I felt the same way, now awlasudden I’m looking at Caymans.

There are so many high performing cars today that it's amazing. Ya, they are tech heavy. But there are so many of them. I know 2 guys with hellcats and I don't know that many people. I don't know anyone with a GT350 or GT500 yet. Would gladly accept a ride in any of them.

My MD has an older Hellcat. 1/2" fuel lines.

Said the newer Tesla with the big power option in Ludicrous mode can snuff him for about two seconds.

Not sure what's important anymore.

No way. When was the last time you had to adjust the passenger side mirror? Without a friend that understands hand signals, it is hell.

A spendy systems failure..or maybe a recurring problem nobody seems able to fix. Not likely, though...there's a "highest mileage" thread on the Bullitt Mustang board that covers the '08-'09 models. Highest so far is over 200,000 miles. Mine at 31,000 seems barely broken in. Evidently, the 4.6 is pretty bulletproof in stock form.

That’s a very nice interior but I don’t think that it’s from one of the newer BMWs(?)

Looks like early 2000s at the very latest. No screen, CD player, etc.

That too...yeah, I know all too well...

(edit) Seriously Tabby, hope you haven't entered that world yet. The one where you celebrate having a week without a medical appointment.

If I had your car and wanted to go faster, I'd just get a supercharger.

There could be a LOT of 6 speed cars suddenly available at reduced costs and prime candidates for Tremec swaps. Since the GT350 already runs one, you already know it fits.

2011.
That's almost brand new in my mind.

Here is a 2017 BMW interior.
Still looks pretty basic to me.

Funny how much ignorant mythology pervades curmudgeonly car culture

Every year new cars just keep getting more ugly.
The BMW 4 series grill, not my cup of tea.
Fire the designers that made the front end on this BMW.

^^ They're following design cues from Toyota - that's not good. I hope that's not real...

There's so few good looking cars anymore.
