I’m curious to see how they title it. I’ve seen the AZ dmv be super lax and just hand out titles, and I’ve been made to jump through hoops for bonded titles because they don’t know how to look at the vin on an old car.

Haha no. I bought it from a dealer in japan. They'll get me for the 0.056 tax.
The title is going to be weird. I spoke to a lady at the DMV to get an appointment just to vin inspection /title. She said I had the wrong form stamped by the CBP, but since I have all the paperwork in order they might just title it. I'll find out in three weeks since that's the next DMV appointment!
I know how to sweet talk those old ladies at the DMV though.

they are really versatile. Just running around the 40 acres out here. It's been doing really good. The small tires are weird for the dirt. Might long term chain up these and have a second set to go to town in.

Hagerty said they'll even insure it for 550$ a year! LOL

Those are beat to schit.

That's who I went through. Keep it under 2500$ for the car and you can do an informal import.

Does the dollar amount matter even if it's 25+ years old? I thought that was the cut-off for a "no hassle" import.

Informal import under $2500 & means you don't need a bond or broker. 25 year is the EPA and 21 year dot exception. Mine was supposed to be hassle free, but the long beach CBP only had one customs officer instead of the full office staff. Covid
When you look at the auction sites. These little trucks are going for 20 cents on the dollar. The used market is nothing like the United States.

did some light 4wd today. This hill to a look out. Very impressed.

Small and light w 4wd is a winning combination. I often think about this w my F-250 4x4 diesel. It’s an awesome truck in many ways but if it ever starts to lose traction, it wants to start digging its way to China. Even in 4wd.

Much the same bloodline... A friend is waiting for delivery of his new Jimney. It should be a great little four wheel driver.
