Do these things actually work?

Looking at my daily email from Menards...I see this flashlight.
I'm not wanting to buy one, but do they work? I thought stun guns were not legal for a normal person..or is this a mini-shock stun gun.
Or is it false advertising?

This rechargeable Stun Gun LED Flashlight features an ultra-high voltage of 1,900 kV. It's easy to use and portable, making it easy to take with you while on the go. Once it's fully charged, this 6" flashlight features approximately 800 total uses. With 110 lumens of LED light, this small stun gun flashlight can help disorient threats from a distance.

Features

1,900 kV
110 lumen LED
Rechargeable with included AC cord
Compact and easy to store
On/off switch on bottom for added safety
Flashlight has 3 modes (bright, SOS flashing, and dim)

I believe the wording, stun gun, is purposely misleading.

^^^ I believe that.
Also not sure what 1900 kV will do. (might be just the light)

110 lumen is a bit … crap.

It looks like a knockoff acebeam but performs like chinas finest.

I can't imagine that it would do anything other than piss off someone that was already a mean bastard.

When I was in college, there was a guy in the next room that had one that looked similar to this.

He used to screw with people with it. I shocked myself a couple of times. It was irritating, but would not disable you (I guess possibly if it hit just the right spot, but seems unlikely to me). I have to think that one would be a tiny fraction of the zap that you'd get out of something more traditional.

I'm with Dixie on this one. The wording "stun gun" is misleading. I think they are actually referring to the flashing capability of the "flash" light, rapidly flashing to confuse and "disorient" the would-be attacker.

Only on epileptic attackers.

I hate it when they mislead people with wording. The price is low, but there will undoubtedly be buyers that are upset.

In HS electronics class, there was always a joker that would stick both ends of a capacitor in the wall outlet and then toss it to someone to catch it.

Those can be surprisingly effective. I have a tactical flashlight with a strobe mode. It is very blinding in a dark room.

It’s just a mini cattle prod. It’s enough to disorient someone. It might even scare off an attacker that wasn’t sure of him/her self.

I have an Acebeam - the L35. Bought it on sale for about $80. Use it walking the dog in the woods - we have coyotes breeding out the back and I want to see them if they don’t clear out.

I can’t have it on regular light full chat when there’s snow on the ground, let alone in epilepsy mode. Makes my maglites look like candles.
