Yellow fog lights?

Other than looking cool, (IMO), are there any advantages to yellow colored fog lamps? It seems like they used to all be that color, at least the aftermarket/auxiliary ones.

I figured that one of the smart people here might know

Denis - the putative advantage was that the yellow filtered out shorter wavelengths (blue) which were more likely to be scattered by water droplets in the air (i.e. fog).

Subsequent studies indicated this was not significant.

The most recent data will be at Wright-Patterson, but I have not kept up with it.
