ebay execs up sh** creek
|
Unreal...
Gotta love the “ethics” of corporations. That might be the last time I use them. I was one of their first members back in 1996 too (when it was cool and innovative and you could buy and sell still stuff like firearms and whatever else too). I’d love to see the execs behind this go to prison but they’ll likely get golden parachutes and be working somewhere else next week instead. |

I have a few old iPhones I need to sell. I just hate the Ebay experience, and have been burned a couple of times as a seller. |
Just earning their big bucks... maximizing profits doncha know :(
|
What was their motivation? They had nothing better to do? That seems so bizarre.

People with big money and dirty politic....
Wait, is this the political forum? I'm out. |
Ebay went off the track long ago as far as I'm concerned. Haven't use it for many years.

Don't know much about the culture of that company, but it used to be run by one of my college classmates.
We'll see what happens. |
Here's the previous thread from a few days ago that's got a little more info.
I'm pretty sure they're already canned. They definitely need to get convicted, and either some time or HUGE fines. It's gotta hurt. |

unable to innovate, they searched in vain for a way to get that high growth back; while the founders bailed the best way to maintain profits was to screw sellers; promote buyers, and allow their markuplace to be flooded with crap |

On the surface, it looks like the e-bay security didn't like what was being spread around the interwebs about them and went postal. I have not been able to find out what was posted, yet. But still looking. Back in my yoot we were taught that sticks and stones, but somehow in the last few generations, that stopped being true. Shame, we've raised a world of over-sensitive ****ies. And by we, I generally mean present company excepted. |

Live by the sword. . .
The internet is a communication system that enables "asymmetric warfare". This couple used that publishing power to project their opinions further than a middle aged couple's normally could which is their right under law. but reputation attack hurt and eBay executives used that against them in an illegal way. Previously only a few public figures, newscasters and movie stars had the power for their words to reverberate across the world in a day. Today everyone has this but most people have no idea of the power until they say the right or wrong thing. A post can and will start revolutions. https://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/15/magazine/how-one-stupid-tweet-ruined-justine-saccos-life.html https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2015/03/29/adam-smith-chick-fil-a-video-memoir/70629290/ https://www.fox61.com/article/news/local/outreach/awareness-months/what-color-is-this-dress-the-question-that-blew-up-the-internet/520-32b8b952-ca43-46cf-bd3e-5f6154e4e805 |
I haven't bought anything on Ebay in years. Poshmark for hard to find stuff like artwork. They're very fair too. As for this case, who knows and who cares.

I told Sleeze Bay that i did not trust em..
|
I use eBay all the time.
Haven't sold there for quite a while, but when I did it was awesome! To each their own...... ;) |

What they did sounds criminal to me, but what laws exactly I couldn't say. Yeah, canned for sure, no company wants that sort of negative press these days. |
I’ve been on eBay since 98 as a seller and buyer.
It has its place but amazon is my go to now. As a seller, I hate eBay now. |
