What short term weather app are you using?
I used the Dark Sky app for years. It was terrific for short term forecasts- what was going to happen in the next hour or two. It was not better than anything else on long term forecasts. It allowed me to fit hour long bike rides between storms- and pull in minutes before it started to rain. Out camping or hiking in areas I could not predict weather myself well, it gave terrific short term forecasts- and warnings of heavy rain in 30 min. Just enough time to find a site and set up a tent.
App was purchased by apple in March, and has gone downhill from there. Short term forecasts are now no better than everything else. It is a significant decline. For example, I have been caught out on a bike ride in the rain 20 miles from the house twice in the last 2weeks. With the old Dark Sky app, I would not get wet once a year. So the best is dead. What are you guys using for short term local forecasts? Thanks. Stay dry Gary |

The old dark sky was easy to read, and was really really good for the next 2 hours. I have found nothing even close. The other apps are ok for long term, miss being nearly perfect short term. gary |

WTForecast injects a little humor into the process.

If all you’re looking for is short term rain probability, The Weather Channel app will show you predictions on their maps for 6 hours into the future.

I like MyRadar. All current weather info by phone's location, real-time radar, wind grahpic, etc.
Also tracks hurricanes, earthquakes, alerts/watches with overlays, etc. Worth the $5 (or whatever) for the ad-free version, IMO. |

I use the weather channel app. It was terrible until about a month ago when they upgraded it.
Now it's ok....everything I need.

I will look into several of these, but none are as easy /mindless to use as the old dark sky app.
Dark sky was also active, it would notify me heavy rain in 11minutes- for example. Hiking in the mountains you could not always see it, but 11min later it was usually wet. Gary |

Yup. Extremely useful for seeing rain, hail, and approaching clouds.
