In a rental Mustang...

With 130 gallons of gas onboard, at least you know if you get in a crash, you'll go out with quite a bang

fanaudical 06-20-2020 07:44 PM

Can you imagine the reaction at the rental company when they check the mileage? (I think he drove it back to NY...)

LWJ 06-20-2020 09:52 PM

Makes one wonder the wisdom of buying a cheap rental fleet car???

That too.

Perhaps a notation in the record? "Aided by light traffic because of virus lockdown."

The big rental companies offer unlimited mileage.

But i'm sure they do check it, and doubt they expect that kind of mileage..
It's not something they expect within their business model

WPOZZZ 06-21-2020 12:39 AM

Can I do an airport dropoff? I'll pay the dropoff fees.

Bill Douglas 06-21-2020 01:27 AM

I would have thought an engine running at that sort of rev's and that sort of load would have need mulitiple oil top ups. Especially a Ford engine.

WPOZZZ 06-21-2020 02:32 AM

Built Ford Tough!

URY914 06-21-2020 02:47 AM

How many gallons of coffee?

javadog 06-21-2020 04:31 AM

There have been a rash of these new records since the virus crap started. This is probably the fourth or fifth new record.

But this was a solo run in a rental.

ckelly78z 06-21-2020 06:58 AM

Can you imagine the mind tricks from what the lack of sleep at those speeds could have created ?

He picked the perfect time to do it with low Covid 19 traffic, probably never to be duplicated.

Brief interruption for something pwd72s will get a kick out of. Text from my kid this morning.

Sidebar - I'll give him the Roush misspelling but the watt derivative of what is all part of the casual disrespect thing in cabmandos thread. There is no malice on his part but "watt" can rub more than a few 63 year olds the wrong way.

They sure can sound impressive.

I don't make 120+ MPH runs, but my lowly 4.6 'Stang doesn't need any oil top offs between it's 5,000 mile changes. Probably an Apples & Oranges thing though. The Coyote 5.0 a different beast.

Poor Stijn...we all know his secret desire is for a hot Mustang, but he's stuck in the German car status land. His comments make me wonder if perhaps a Mustang driver showed him that his Cayman isn't as fast as he thought it was.
