What happens if the vacuum pumps fail, or in an electrical blackout?

The vacuum obviously allows atmospheric pressure to push the car up. if the vacuum is released or fails, as you put it, gravity pulls the car down but the seals prevent it from moving quickly. I'm sure there are mechanical friction devices that are redundant.

In Wales there is a legal requirement for road signs to be in both English and Welsh.
