I agree. The meme sh.t gets old after a while.

If I understand this "Karen phenomenon" correctly, pretty sure that it fits y'all better than Paul

Perfect! Just ordered.

I use the blue ones and augment with some cloth masks my wife made if I feel the need to. I only do that if the store is more crowded than usual.

All the places I frequent have hand sanitizers at the entrance and exit. I augment with wipes in the car, especially when I take my buddy around shopping and to the doc.

I also leave the masks on my dash when not in use. My oldest sister is a retired Doc and says that sunlight and heat are the best natural disinfectants.

No skin off my nose.

I know. I thought about that after I called him Karen. Curses!! :D

But the meme stuff gets old after a while. There'll be a good conversation going and BOOM meme after meme after meme.

Paul and Steve,
Let me know how those wipes work.

Who else is with me ?

There's also a speed limit for your safety as well. We all know no one exceeds that.

... to follow on your analogy, are masks, in fact which type and what constitutes proper usage do matter, closer to seatbelts or speed limits ? Therein lies the discussion which I already said do exist, under all the politically charged masks, masks, masks election year distortion.

The trick is to keep the glasses warm so that they don't condense the water vapor exiting the mask thru the giant gap around the nose bridge.

If you have two pairs of glasses keep one pair in a pocket close to your body. This keeps them warm. Swap out as needed.

Or you could move your mask below your nose, or get a better sealing mask with a vent valve.

cabmandone 07-18-2020 09:07 AM

I was out driving the 911 today. I put my mask on to go into Menards and they fogged just a little. I normally just pull the glasses a little farther away from my eyes when I put a mask on. Did the same thing when I was doing car paint prep work.

I see what you did there with the vent valve :D

Poor baby. Karen doesn't like memes.

Until you're elected Mayor of PPOT I'll keep posting memes.

As if you telling me you don't like my memes would stop me. LOL!!

sammyg2 07-28-2020 11:54 AM

Near total failure with those wipes. They maybe work for an hour and rapidly drop off.

Well then I won't be getting those for my parents! I saw some 5 pack "anti fog" wipes I might grab for them. Their card club friends don't like wearing masks while playing cards together because their glasses get fogged up.

3. Aerosol physics
While the traditional distinction between “droplet” and “airborne” transmission of infectious disease has been useful for setting guidelines on the use of personal protective equipment, it has also established a false dichotomy in understanding the behavior of viruses in the air. Viruscontaining droplets that are released by breathing, talking, and coughing span a continuum of sizes, from 0.01 to hundreds of microns. It is impossible for someone to release “large droplets” (>5 microns) without also releasing smaller ones.xii Thus, transmission that is purported to occur via the spray of large droplets from a cough could in fact be occurring through inhalation of much smaller droplets at close range. In fact, a physics-based simulation suggests that the majority of exposure at close range occurs by inhalation of small droplets rather than by contact with large droplets that land on the mouth, nose, and eyes, unless the people are closer than 30 cm or the droplets are very large.

For those who resist clicking links... (pmax's)

Big ol (visible) vape smoke thru a popular mask.

Thought you might appreciate it :)

Just putting it out there as a message to those who thinks wearing a mask will protect them without social distancing.

I also notice the mask redirects the droplets higher which means they linger in the air that much longer ... details details.

And if people would take care of their own selves we wouldn't have to have any police . If someone pisses you off you don't look to the nanny state to fix it - just shoot 'em. No government required.
