Pit Bull Lives Matters

Yet another poor misunderstood pit bull is unfairly profiled and killed by prejudiced police! When will this unfair bias against Pit Bulls stop? We need to go burn something down.
(disclaimer to protect myself: this is sarcasm!)

She seems like a top shelf mom.

Someone had sex with her.

How terribly heartbreaking. As a brand new, first time grampa (my grand daughter is now eight months old), I simply cannot wrap my head around this. I cannot imagine how anyone could even begin to cope with something like this.

On another note, what a sad comment on just how callous some on this forum have become. To use a tragedy such as this as a springboard for some smart-ass social/political statement is about as low as it gets. I cannot understand how anyone can be so detached, so unmoved, so uncaring as to present this event so sarcastically. Perhaps a bit of introspection might be in order...

Cannot echo Jeff strongly enough. Well said Mr Higgins.

Sometimes I wonder why I bother coming here. then I remind myself there are a few principled people with something very worthwhile to share that doesn’t involve politics, racism or sexism. I have to confess I am not completely without sin about politics but will endeavor to be better.

Kids are precious. We've had our first grandson for 45-60 hrs/week for almost 4 years. For almost a year now we've had him and his new brother, so now we have a 4+ and 1+ year old for 45-60hrs/wk while their mom works.

When something like this happens, it's done, and you can't change it. You can cry or you can laugh or maybe get mad. Being able to detach from a situation is not the same as not caring. If you have to be upset about everything, then it must be hard to watch a comedian, because often times, their subject matter is based in reality. Not everyone reacts the same to every situation.

The problem is never the dog, but the owner of the dog. No matter the breed. I strongly dislike the unfair hate towards pitbulls. They are such a sweet animal.

Ironic you would say this, given how many threads you have started for the purpose you excoriate in the above post.

The problem seems to be that stupid people are drawn to pit bulls. There is no silver lining here. The child is gone, the other dog was mauled and the responsible party is behind bars. Lose, lose, lose.

Virtue signaling is unnecessary.

There's an older lady locally who was attacked walking to her house by 3 pit bulls.
Tore off half her scalp and turned her arms into puzzle like scars.
A neighbor heard her screams and had to shoot one to get them to stop attacking.... She would be dead if it wasn't for him.

Why would you leave any dog unattended in a room with a new born? They really should require a license to have children people like this should never be permitted to reproduce.

In the the threads I have started regarding pit bull attacks on children, I have never once used those attacks as a springboard for a callous, smart ass attack on some pet political peeve. I have only posted them in an effort to highlight what I believe to be the dangers inherent in this breed. I have never failed to express my heartfelt sympathy for the families who have lost children to these dogs. Granted, I'm less than sympathetic to adults who get injured or killed by their own dogs, but they have brought that upon themselves. There is a huge difference between how I have presented these cases and the approach taken in the OP that started this thread.

Yes, it is a tragedy that a child was brutally killed. Yes, the adults probably were negligent. I apologize for offending members here. My wit is my way of pointing to an obvious need for a solution to prevent more tragedies like the one that just occured.

But, how many times do we have to see news reports of deaths virtually always by a pit bull before we stop sticking our heads in the sand and realize that the facts are that those sweet puppies are dangerous?

Instead of attacking the "smart ass" people should look in the mirror and ask themselves "am I blind to the facts about this breed of dogs?". My sarcasm is directed at the people who think there is nothing wrong with this breed of animal. I wish they were as offended by the statistics of Pit Bull attacks as they are at my comments. If we regulate the breed, we reduce the ability for negligent people to own the animals. They need to spend more time researching the facts and less time virtue signalling.

(This response is not speaking about any particular person).

p.s. In the past, Daniel Dudley had warned me that personal attacks can cause a ban (I called someone a moron or idiot - I don't remember which. Please be careful not to start name calling so you won't be banned.

Something from you that I actually agree with, ha ha! Other than the, "have become" part; the Porsche-prick stereotype has always been strong among quite a few of the OT dudes.

Joe, believe me, we are on the same side of this pit bull issue. As Tobra pointed out, I've started many threads addressing the vicious and unpredictable nature of these dogs as well as the frustrating denials we constantly hear from their defenders. We agree on all of that.

So, yes, perhaps I missed your message. For that, I apologize. At first blush it just struck me as rather callous and uncaring. I see now where it was an outcry of frustration and anger on many levels and, on that too, we agree.

Pit bulls alleviate social confrontation on behalf of the owner, alleviating him/her of having cordial social discourse, which often ends in telling someone they are a dumb ass.

They can be nice, but they also can snap.

Echos of the gun debate

There is no answer to this one, just as there is no answer to the great, endless gun debate.

I dunno (yeah, I know) - my mother-in-law - 89 years old ripped apart by a pit bull as she is out for a walk in her upscale neighborhood.

Oh yeah, blame the owner all you want but if the pitbull wasn't there, regardless of crap owner - no attack happens. End of discussion.

Pitbulls don't attack old ladies - bad pitbull owners do! BS!

I've been molested by crap dogs while out walking so many times and I've been molested even more times by dog lovers that want to speak out on the part of vicious animals abusing innocent people.

Heck with you and your love of dogs - what if my passion was toward bengal tigers?

They are such sweet and innocent animals - why can I not just walk down the street with a tiger on a leash?

Oh, well, yeah, a few bad tiger owners happen to result in the odd death of humans here and there - but let's not blame the tigers shall we? It's obviously the fault of all those lousy tiger owners...
