Did they shelve the summer Hollywood blockbusters?

I don’t keep up with entertainment. But I vaguely remember a new Wonder Woman movie coming out. Sure there are other fantastic movies beyond that.

They are just waiting to roll out all that goodness?

I think studios are waiting until theaters can open and charge all that money. Releasing straight to home video is a major revenue loss.

I think the new James Bond movie No Time to Die was pushed back from April 10th to November 20th.

Arizona_928 07-09-2020 07:47 PM

Same with the new ghost busters ^^^

Theaters mostly aren’t open, they’re not going to blow a $100MM movie on a partial release and then streaming.

Who even cares anymore?
I personally have lost all interest in anything leftist Hollywood has produced and hopefully they all have to find regular jobs.
Hopefully people will start reading more and stop enriching all the kooks in Hollywood.

Leftist Hollywood made The Hunt, and then COVID shut down the theaters, so they decided to put it out of pay per view instead. did you watch it? You might like it, it's about a person who HUNTS down new books to read during the crisis, to make themselves a more educated, well rounded person. They are conspicuous in avoiding leftist Hollywood type books. Such irony!

Why aren't drive ins open?

There are hardly any drive in theaters left to open. I mean, how many are within 50 miles of you? I think there’s one anywhere around me.

One in Glendale AZ... I think that's the only one in the whole state.

Ours is open.

Huh...moments of searching, and I see that YOUR drive in is open too! Not only are they open, but they're showing some WICKED movies!

Arizona_928 07-09-2020 09:02 PM

Yeah those look like good throw backs.
I didn't realize they reopened after the initial lock down.

Tobra 07-09-2020 09:07 PM

Drive in is open here.

They are probably holding off because a big movie is a big investment, have to get that return.

Not a lot of movies I have wanted to go see in a theater. I don't enjoy going to theaters much anyway, maybe because I worked at a movie theater a few years. Seems like last few times I have gone, there was someone talking, or on their phone, something annoying. Sort of turned me off.

"Greyhound" is being released straight to Apple TV... The new normal?

I'm disappointed. There's nothing like the big screen!

EDIT: Set for: July 10 Debut.

masraum 07-10-2020 04:27 AM

Yep, most summer blockbuster releases have been postponed until a later date. I read something that said many were postponed until the fall, but that seems odd. I suspect we may not end up seeing a bunch of them until Christmas or next summer.

It was *made* by Apple.
They all realize the value is in the content.
Look how much stuff Netflix produced after Disney cut off their movie stream to roll their own. Then look at Netflix price...

john70t 07-10-2020 09:04 AM

Dominoes:
First theater prices will increase, until people stop going to them.
Then DVD prices, until people stop buying them.
Then streaming prices, until net neutrality is challenged by ISPs and Hollywood uses piracy to enact SOPA/PIPAII.

The internet will then have to become highly "regulated"....

Embraer 07-10-2020 09:39 AM

Nobody's buying DVD's anymore....streaming prices are already going up.

varmint 07-10-2020 09:52 AM

the local independent theatre has become a revival house. in the past month we've seen the goonies. wizard of oz, shrek, indiana jones and willy wonka.

oompa loom pas are super creepy on the big screen. next week is empire strike back.

trying to talk them into old john wayne movies.

RANDY P 07-10-2020 10:23 AM

I sure hope so. Give the world a break from SJW BS empowerment lessons.
