Saturday bump
It’s Sebring, After All… By Jeff Olson One underlying theme heading into the weekend is the track itself. Whether a marathon or a sprint, Sebring is a supreme challenge. "It’s an amazing track, a real drivers’ track," said Oliver Jarvis, co-driver of the No. 77 Mazda Motorsports Mazda RT24-P DPi with Tristan Nunez. "It’s very difficult, very technical. It’s challenging for the driver and the car. I think in this particular race, the heat is going to be an added factor." Race day temperatures are forecasted to reach 88 degrees with 78 percent humidity and a chance of thunderstorms. Nunez, for one, is used to Florida summertime weather and how it might affect racing at Sebring. "It’s definitely one of my favorite tracks on the schedule," said Nunez, who lives in Boca Raton, Florida. "I consider it my home track. I ran a lot of Skip Barber races there, a lot of Prototype Lites (now known as IMSA Prototype Challenge). … I’m really excited to get back there and see what we can do." Hoping for another exciting race.
The Mazdas were dominant at Daytona, would be impressive if they can continue that form. I’m happy the LMP2s are running.

Will be interesting to watch , even though it is a relatively short race it is going to be very hot/humid . Add to that how rough the track is it will be a great test of man and machine . Hoping the Porsche's do well in GTLM and GTD .

There was some good racing throughout.
A wacky Porsche pit lane mishap, analysis, and aftereffects can be seen from 3:22 to 6:24...

I was disappointed with the Porsche's getting together in pit lane but it was very tight with the two Corvette's there wasn't a lot of room . Congratulations to Corvette their pit strategy to take two tires on the first stop put them ahead of the Porsche's .
The #912 clawed its way back to a podium finish . Lexus has the pace in GTD class they look very strong . The Whelen DPI was untouchable they were in a different league . How about both Mazdas running out of fuel at the same time at the same turn !!! Crazy . Overall an enjoyable race to watch . |
