Is your motivation starting to falter?

Mine is. I've been staying more than busy with small-ish projects around the house. There are other activities such as my hobbies that I've been indulging in too, but lately my motivation is just plain lacking.

My local indoor pistol range recently opened and I went only to find an hour and a half wait time. So I split. I haven't practiced my cello lessons in weeks. I haven't sat down to work on any of my e-music compositions either. The only thing I've done is ride my bicycle every other day.

Now I'm sitting here writing this whiny post.

I was able to finish my greenhouse build; https://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-GreenHouse-Build-Solid-Structure/ over the weekend, but too late to start any plants in this heat.

I have been helping my son refurbish his (new to him) 22' boat. We have the 351 Windsor running like a top, and all the electronics work now...just replaced floor, and carpet last night.

I can't get too excited about anything in 95*-100* heat along with major humidity, although they just got done yesterday with combining/baling the straw in the field next to me, so now my pile of 25 logs is accessible again....i'll wait for cooler weather. We also have to pick up 400 bales of alfalfa hay for our horses.

The old saying still rings true..."Make hay while the sun shines" !

I was cycling a lot, both MTB and Road... began to notice I was losing some drive and initiative... cut back on my miles and feeling much more creative... just built a covered deck next to the fishpond and I go out there and read. work has been crazy busy, been 3 weeks behind since Feb. reading a book about eliminating Hurry from my life. Also quit watching the news, and avoiding Parf. all the political, and Covid stuff drains me of energy. I found doing projects took my mind off all the crap going on and my energy started returning.

I was talking to a friend about the same sort of thing some time ago. He said he visited his doctor and commented about this. The doc told him some older people can benefit from a mild antidepressant to stimulate interest, which he tried & said it made a good difference. Might be a consideration - not that I'm exactly classifying you as "older."

I've got a Kubota diesel powered 72' zero turn mower with your name on it, or a MF 1739 I can give you seat time on.

Seriously, change of venue will help.

My business partner has some immunity issues (and an older friend of his is on a ventilator) so I have not been to Yorktown to see him for three months. We Zoom, GTM, etc. everyday and I asked him about his motivation just last week...he seemed monotone when normally he is a bundle of ideas.

On Friday we decided to meet halfway and have lunch. We sat at a large table at a cool restaurant on HWY 17 in Virginia and just chatted and laughed through, at his insistence, N-95 masks.

Social interaction is a key component to motivation. Pay attention to your moods, it is vitally important to health. You are not whining.

Well, maybe a little bit

The Kubota awaits!

I've been pretty ambitious this season. I dug, formed, mixed and poured a patio in april may, now onto to my quonset hut garage project. Pretty much flying solo, with a minimal amount of help from my 14 year old .
Dug for 3 days straight in the heat last weekend, and I will most likely work every evening this week after work , till around 9;30.
At 50 years old, I am at the point where I need to get done the big projects that I have always dreamed about while I am still Physically able

Working harder with more drive and determination than ever. I'm practically a prepper now, with all the food, water, firewood etc we're putting back. I'm seriously afraid the poo is going to hit the propeller in the next year and I'm actually enjoying trying to be prepared (not deluding myself into thinking I ever really will be). Still spending time on my other hobbies too.

Give it a few months when the peaceful rioter um, I mean protesters are out of the news cycle and the range will be empty again.

Besides, cheer up, you could be whining because you are watching the Stanley Cup playoffs wish NJ could be a contender... Or, you could live in NY where it is against the law to say the word gun.

Yeah we all have our first world problems.

The heat plus long term stress of Covid-19 social distancing zaps energy out of most of us.

Small projects and exercise seem to be the treatment.

Agree. Although I was doing ok energy wise until the heat really hit. The heat/humidity here just zap your energy. Currently 96 and 106 heat index.

My neighbors got back from their second home (winter home) in North Carolina. Said NC is cooler in the summer, warmer in the winter, Michigan is only for business.

Still good to see them back, Porsche owners.

Live life as normal as possible, try to avoid the news especially the Covid crap, and going outside, those are my keys. Thank God for the lake, that’s been the key to my sanity during this stupidity.

Try and catch direct sunlight in the morning when it isn't too hot. There are major mental and physical benefits. Besides Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), there are physical benefits from exercise and the Vit D...
