Is your motorvation starting to falter?

Mine isn't. I've been staying more than busy with small-ish projects around the interior - despite the horrible upside down yoga stances in the heat to get under the dash.

There are other activities such as actually driving the damn car that I've been indulging in too, but lately my motorvation is not slacking.

My motorvation is less and less every year. (easier to pay someone)
My motivation is still going strong though...esp with the cooler weather.

My MIL is very old, and she is now living with us. I tend to spend time with her instead of going out into the garage, and my whole Spring was spent preparing a place here for her to live and be comfortable.

I like the idea getting out into the shop though. There is a whole pile of her stuff where I usually park my truck, so that will be my next project.

I never had much to begin with. I paid a gentleman named John Walker to work on my P-cars.

My motorvation was beginning to have less interest. The P-Car is solid and nothing needs tinkering.
I was wondering what I will do with all my standard tools for when I worked on Detroit Steel.

So... to get out of the funk, I am picking up a 1971 350 Corvette roadster next week.
I am going out of state to get it and have to trailer it back. Included in the deal is the original
motor that the owner of 35 years kept after replacing it with a built HP one.

This will get those old non metric wrenches dusted off.

I am for sure less likely to spend time in the garage as when I was younger. I have pretty much all the normal projects done on the cars, and now it is just maintenance.

I spent several days replacing the pulley end crankshaft seal on my 911 last week. It is likely just a 4 or 5 hour "book time" job. I am incredibly slow and really happy I am not an professional mechanic.

Oh wow! That sounds like a fun project. Love the C3s. How did you make the purchase? I was just looking at a video singing the praises of C4 Corvettes last night, thinking that they are a lot of car for the money if you can a good one. And . . . pics! I need pics for motorvation!

I am continuing to do stuff to the 911, and finishing out my garage.

Rocker panels and their hideous rubber strips are gone, so I had to figure out how to trim out the sides. Here's what I have so far.

Found this cool old picture my Mom painted of me and my Dad working on his Pinto (!) back in the day. He was a BSEE from MIT, but the only tool he ever used on a car was a hammer, so he broke a lot of stuff. Note the Exxon shirt--I worked as a pump jockey by day, fixed my Dad's mechanical disasters by night.

Yes and no. I thought that by working from home that I would spend less time "working" without a commute.

Nope. I now spend more time at the pc, switching between work laptops multiple times during the day based on what projects I'm handling. I used to get in at 8:50 sharp, 20—30 minutes for lunch, out the door at 5:30 sharp if there aren't any 911s/fire drills, be home with the fam by 6:00 for dinner and nightly routine with the kiddo.

Now? Step out to grab lunch, eat at the desk (keep working), have dinner around 6, back to the desk until about 9 or 10.

I have lost motivation for side projects or stuff I would work on in the evenings at home.

madcorgi....

The 63 thru 67 C3's are way overpriced so I decided to look for a 68 thru 71. Huge horse power
drop in 72. Went on Craigslist and started hitting all the small cities and what I was looking for
showed up in a town I never would have thought to have a High Performance Sports Car.

One way to do a cash deal is if you have the same bank. Both stand in front of the teller, buyer transfers funds to sellers account. Of course getting cash and driving across a bunch of states is risky but if that is what the seller demands and has the title in hand that is free and clear,
then you strap on the pistola and go get your car.

Got my Corvette generations wrong--sorry. Add 1. I agree the 63-67 cars are ridiculous, but I like them too.

It looks my son, and I working on his stuff (we both have extensive tool collections). Very cool picture that you should cherish forever.

.
'63 thru '67 are C2's, not C3's.

You are correct. C3's are 68 thru 82.
