Interesting video, I have seen one driving and it did not make me gag.

I do not hate Corvettes by any means, I have never owned one and the lack of a manual gear box means I will not be interested in this one currently.

IF I were to buy a new car I would likely buy a Corvette. I looks like a fun car and the entry price isn't prohibitive. I'd drive it a few years and sell it, knowing the depreciation cost was part of the price of the party.

I like it but don't like it at the same time. In my opinion, it looks like a totally different car (it is). And I like the new car. However, it no longer resembles a Corvette. I think it would be a good idea to give this car a new name and not call it what it is no longer.

That will happen right after Porsche stops using 911 as a car name for the top tier car.

2 types of people drive sports cars.
1st type wants to be seen in a sports car.
2nd type wants to drive a sports car.
I'm not sure which one this is, but for me it would be the later.

This has been said about every new generation of Corvette, until the C-5.
The C-5 was the first new corvette that just updated the styling of the previous model.

I like the look of a C4 over a C5 anyday.

My C6 Z06 is a riot to drive. The interior is basically a Chev. Cavalier interior. The C7 interior was a major improvement.
The C8 will have to grow on me looks wise. GM did a good job on the interior.
Performance wise GM knocked it out of the park for the cost of the vehicle.

I could be content with a C5 Z06. I don't think any C4 ownership/driver experience would last long.

Steve Carlton 07-27-2020 06:41 PM

I had an '08 Z06. I thought it would be the pinnacle of Corvettes, but I was wrong. Still, nothing wrong with a small block 427 with 505hp in a 3,200 lb car.

A friend of mine had two of them, which helped motivate me. He said his '06 was lighter and faster than his '07 and would break loose the tires as he accelerated though 85mph. It was yellow (the other one was Atomic Orange).

Anyone complaining about the interior of a car belongs in an appliance.
Anyone complaining about the looks of a car is a fender polisher, not a driver.

That a fact?

"Serious "car guys" no longer allowed to have opinions? I didn't get a copy of that memo, can you share a copy of yours?

Are you really Jerry Seinfeld :D?

GH85Carrera 07-28-2020 05:16 AM

I friend of mine has had his chrome bumper C3 Vette since new. It is pretty low mileage. I always liked the over the top styling of the C3. It sure is a POS of a car. The fenders flop around like crazy when driven. During the 1980s the Vette really suffered and when they sold cars with under 150 HP many thought it was the end of the mighty brand.

It was nice to see the slow come back. One of the (single) members of our local PCA region is motorhead. He has a very slick looking 1982 911 SC, and Harley, and a C6 and and a Z06. He loves just driving the Z06 and it has the modern amenities that mostly work as designed. He does not care one iota what anyone else thinks, and he just enjoys his toys. He is a great guy.

Nah, he's been too much of a sourpuss lately to be Jerry. Jerry is happy. Always.

C3 - mine a long time ago-pretty awful in a lot respects -454 powered - still liked it -never missed it. But Im pretty much into anything automotive these days.

The Electron blue C5Z was too easy to drive fast.
Terrible invasive nannies so always turned them off at the track.
Exiting a fast sweeper the nannies would drag the brakes.

Still have a black 02 C5Z with 30k miles.

We went through rotors like beer too. But a big bang for the buck and good AC.
