Gordon Murray T.50 - Harry's Garage

Looks like he's done it again. Very McLaren F1 2.0ish

Hi Les,

Not involved, would so love to work on it as it's everything a super car should be for me and everything the current crop of super cars are not

T50 seems to have be very well received by UK car enthusiasts, interested to see what you guys think of it

Harry's video is very good, worth watching

Very cool car, but the fan is a little Jetson’s for me.

Plus for that price I can fill my garage with many other super cars

Sour grapes. There won't be enough of those for you to have one anyway.

Great looking car and I'm sure they'll sell all of them. It's good to see the return of the central drivers seat...

But I hope it's a lot more reliable than the current McLaren's.
(The Brits call them the new Lotus and that's not a compliment)

One of the current cars has an issue that I find difficult to believe.
Apparently there's a special sensor in the engine bay and if the car gets rained on that sensor fails and it's replacement valued is about £800!

Top Gear has a video as well with a few details Harry missed. "Push to pass", tire availability, deletion of the fuel cell etc.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4EIYQ6fkG4

Even more details from the Carfection video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKRMY4sm_f0

And of course this car is NOT a McLaren.

2/3 of production is pre sold.

Interesting how a lot of the outlets have somewhat long (>30 minutes) videos on this. Gonna need an entire afternoon to work through em...

Should sound amazing once we get some driving vids.

absolutely brilliant. True car guy. Doesn't care how fast just make it the best experience. Too bad I don't have the US$3m. That will turn into US$10m instantly. thanks for posting

I'd like to know what the long term plans are for Gordon Murray Automotive. Is this a one model run? How many will be made? Or will there be more cars to come?

Just guessing but the future of his company will depend on how successful this car is.

I think he said "we'll build 100 of these". After that who knows?

BTW: This car is being built near the abandoned GM Factory in Adelaide (my town).

It was interesting video. Mega gazillion dollar car and the car they compare it to, is the 911.

It will be interesting to see what it can do at the stand-bearer Nürburgring as a production car.

After watching the several videos of the introduction I was taken by two things.
First :the changes in technology in 25 years. Advances in computer design allows a small company like Mr Murray's to view the car before a single mock up is made. The weight savings in the chassis alone is staggering given the doubling of torsional regidity. The changes in lighting technology allowed for far superior illumination. Cosworth gets a lot of credit for that 3.9 litre masterpiece. On the dyno it sounded like a F1 engine from another time.
Second : Gordon is not only a brilliant engineer but he is also an effective communicator. In all the videos I watched he responded to questions in a relaxed, conversional tone and got the important information across.
I did note in one video he said they were able to get rid of the bladder fuel cell and reduce maintenance.

Best

Murray stated there will be 13 test prototypes, 100 road cars and I thought he mentioned another 25 track cars. For over £3 million you won't be tasked with guessing which T50 in the parking lot is yours.
