I need a tool for this splitter

These solid brass hose splitters are sturdy and last forever, but MrsWD has a ot of trouble turning them off and on. She needs some kind of tool to give her better purchase and/or better leverage. I've seen tools that are essentially a cylinder with a slot cut in it at the end of a screwdriver handle. Something like that would work. I don't know what to call the tool or where to find one.
If I had a milling machine I'd cut a slot in a 1/2" nut driver and be done with it.

Just make a little wooden handle with a slot/oval to fit around those knobs....mebbe an old wooden hammer handle, etc.

A flat piece of steel and cut a slot in it . Or find an old socket of the correct diameter and cut slots in it .

I have a very small pair...would work just fine too. Could leave them clamped on...but they'd grow legs and disappear ;)

Adjustable wrench on a tether.

Tack weld the adjustment, plastidip it.

Done.

Here's a quick sketch for the easiest tool if you have some woodworking equipment and no metalworking equipment. Take a piece of wood, cut a slot the width of the valve knob (shown in black) and then drill a hole near the end through the sides and put a bolt with nut (shown in gray) to keep the slot from splitting.

Old socket and grind 2 notches for the ears?

It's a magical tool called a "channel lock"

BTW, you don't need a milling machine. Just need a grinder and BAM! new tool. Or you could take a box end wrench that's just a bit too small, heat it and beat it into an oval shape that fits the handle. OR! You could take those handle off and go buy lever type handles for it. All good options.

I recently bought a splitter like that, only with four outlets. It came with plastic handle covers to give us more leverage. My wife has no issues using them.

Under four bux on amazon, you might need to file the opening a little to fit.

Brass fittings are great but something like this would be better for your wife.

Still decent but easier to use.

Clearly, you either need to buy a 3D printer and then print some overly complicated handles.

Or you could CAD up some handles and then send the files to a company that does CNC milling to have them made for you, preferably out of something like titanium or a specialized alloy, and then have them coated/treated for extra durability and weather resistance.

You're welcome. I'm just trying to provide the simplest, most cost effective solution for your problem.

i bet the emergency gas shut off tool will fit.

I have a vertical mill. Give me the dimensions (length and width and I will make a wrench for you. Probably not too fancy but it will work!
