Who’s had a COVID test?

Wow! They poke that swab DEEP! I wish I had centimeter marks on the swab. It felt like a good 4cm. Maybe more! My eye was twitching and watering. 10 seconds of twisting the swab.

It not painful at all, but the oddest sensation ever. I had no idea my sinuses were a straight shot up. No turns. Haha.

My wife being a first responder got me into a “family of first responder” test. I just wanted to see what the test was like. Well, now I know. :). I should have selfie-filmed it.

Apparently, from what they are describing, your autopsy report arrives before the test result does.

I've had one done via blood draw. They about an eye-dropper full of blood for testing. The results were "assumed negative" due to a lack of antibodies present.

Haha. Awesome. My county is running two days. Hope I don’t die before that! I better wear good underwear just in case. :)

I have had two. Not painful, but uncomfortable. It goes fast, and as Vash states; makes the eyes wattery. Results were quick due to DoD doing the tests.

I did. Twice. They screwed up the first sample so I had to do a redo...

I had to have one last month before my second and final colonoscopy.

I get one every 3 weeks just before my cancer treatment medicine. Somehow they read my blood sample as they take two vials of blood and one has the normal label on it the smaller one has a weird label I've never seen before?

One back in late May prior to a hand procedure. I was expecting brain matter coming out on the end of the swab. I expended most of those cells in my youth. Didn’t last more than a second or two.

Antibody test. I gave blood.

Nostril Cheese 08-15-2020 10:06 PM

A close friend and a gal I was dating had Covid.

Nah. They probably couldn’t get past the cheese.

I have not but my son who lives in Philadelphia did. It took 10 days to get his results back This was 2 weeks ago -he just went back to work. - way too long

Had the bilateral nasal swab before my last back surgery. Hurt a bit, tested negative

onewhippedpuppy 08-16-2020 04:33 AM

BIL in KC was sick and had to get tested before coming back, it was negative but took three weeks! Thankfully his employer covered it, so he spent three weeks at home playing video games and drinking beer.:D

Two PCR/nasal swab tests. Very quick, felt like getting water in your sinuses when swimming. Uncomfortable the first time, no big deal the second time.

I had a rapidly worsening sore throat and flu like symptoms, wondered if I had Covid, test #1 negative report in 36 hr, throat got worse to the point that I couldn’t swallow easily, thought maybe strep, went to Urgent Care, they diagnosed tonsillar abscess, also gave me test #2, negative report in 24 hr. Sent me to ED, between the actual emergency cases they hatched up a plan, moved me to a room, numbed my throat until I literally couldn’t swallow, then poked the back of my throat with a huge needle trying to aspirate the abscess. Interrupted by my periodic retching into a bag - when you can’t swallow, it’s not good - then finally announced that the abscess was not drained but I’d started on penicillin and could go home when I was able to swallow, which took another couple hours. Two days later I was mostly better and at the beach, confidently Covid-negative.

It’s still not that easy to get tested here, if you’re having symptoms no problem, but if you just want to know - say, you’re going to visit your aged parents - you have to make up symptoms or find another loophole.

The PCR testing is taking too long to come back now, which makes them less useful. Saliva tests using LAMP are faster but accuracy issues have slowed their approval. The typical LAMP saliva test has a significant false negative rate, more accurate ones have recently been developed.

I've been tested twice both negative
Like others said it didn't hurt but was a little uncomfortable.
It was the one time I was glad that I have a big nose.

slow&rusty 08-17-2020 05:10 AM

That swab was pushed so far into my nose, a piece of my brain came out of my damn ear!

Sad.

A big nose is an asset on certain occasions and in certain circumstances were the opportunity ever to unmask itself to your face.
