Ram fun. No 4wd. Swap out borg warner 44-47

Does anyone know if the dodge nv271 is a direct plug and play replacement for the BW 44-47?

Why you may be asking? Truck won't send power to the front axle until slip is detected, which got me suck in a giant puddle when it a rained a few days ago.

Walked a few hours home to grab the f350 to pull it out. Gave enough time to think about how to get rid of that over complicated pos borg warner transfer case.

Part time 4x4 is a misnomer when the TC has clutches. I should have bought the cheb duramax...

You should tell Dodge you're gonna post a video of the event on youtube if they don't fix the mess. Yeah the Dmax is an impressive beast. I'm still a Ford guy on trucks though. A 6.7 is a tough one to beat.

They already have my money. With the g56/bw44-47 setup now obsolete in the lineup and power train warranty close to an end; I'm sure they'll tell me to pound sand.

The fords still have solid axles... Lol no. If I buy another diesel it'll be a lmtv, or a class 8 international...

Your title thru me off.
I'm under the impression that you live out in the sticks there in Az. Like my Sister does in chino valley.
Her steep access dirt/ Gravel road is doable most times with 2wd. But it turns totally slippery in wet or snowy conditions requiring 4wd.
That seems the nature of the soil there, very slippery when wet. It's not wet all that often but when it is you got to have good 4wd.

Good luck getting your dodge to work better for you.
Where abouts are you located?

Cheers Richard

Howling rear ends is what I see with Dodge trucks that tow

I'm in the white mountains; north east AZ.
4wd is a must where I live. In the winter if you don't get out when the mud is frozen in the morning, you ain't leaving. I don't want to take that chance when it's 30 degrees out.

I found out some more info on my issue. I have a front axle disconnect that is not working as it should. The first tech/shop I talked to sent me on a goose chase. There's a vendor that sells locking hubs. And it looks like you can buy a new axle shaft and turn it down to fit....
We shall see
