Waiting on my purchase permit
Well it's coming on 8 weeks since I submitted a pistol purchase application. 4 weeks ago I was notified that my criminal background check was completed and yet no stamp of approval.
I was thinking of checking in with our Detective Bureau for any update, but then again he can't really do anything. It did occur to me that they're swamped and bugging him at this time is just an annoyance. Soooo I guess it's a waiting game. sigh |
Eight weeks is unacceptable.
A friend of mine just got denied a Purchase Number and Pin by the Maryland Firearms Registration Unit. They actually have a very good website for you to preregister before you go to a dealer. Very easy. The denial took less than 48 hours. My approval took less than a day. This has eliminated the hand paperwork at the store...the PN and Pin are not specific to a particular firearm. He now has to figure out what went sideways. Ouch. Good luck! |
I am 7 weeks. Sent an email to my PD nine days ago when my CBC was complete, I got two emails so I checked. Officer emailed back within 24hrs. said it wasn't ready. I phoned the PD this morning, no answer. Figured I would wait until Monday to email the officer again. I am cutting them some slack as I am sure they are inundated.

Weird. Purchasing a gun in Texas takes 15-45 mins if purchasing from a storefront (or presumably any FFL seller). You've got to fill out a sheet. Then they call the FBI which usually seems to take about 5 mins. If you've got a valid CHL, then no call is necessary.

Sounds a bit infringey, on something that "shall not be infringed."

A right delayed is a right denied.
Sadly, our dictator wanna-be of a Governor looks longingly at New Jersey's unconstitutional gun laws as a good start. It's pretty sad that I can go from an upstanding citizen with a spotless record to a vile felon as I cross the middle of a river. You fellows in NJ, NY and Maryland have our sympathy. We are trying not to join you. |

Its bad here in NJ.
Last summer a buddy wanted to buy some 22LR bullets, he was not able to as his NJ driver license address did not match his NJ Firearms ID card due to a move a few years ago. NJ no longer allows a re-issue/update of the NJ Firearms ID as they used to. He had to reapply from the beginning, FBI fingerprinting, Mental health screening, background check, 3 references, etc. Well, 5 1/2 months later, he finally got his new card and bought his box of 22LR bullets. So great to live here in NJ....... |
Wow! I could have had 56 pistols in that amount of time.

I'm exempt from NICS checks. If it took more than five minutes for me to buy a handgun from a storefront, I'd just go to another one.

Apparently my uncle is voting Dem for the 1st time this year. That never would have happened while he was alive.
