I’m NICS-EXEMPT.
Came with my incredibly easy, almost fun, to get carry permit. More to say when this gets to parf. |

Last one took me about 30 minutes. But that was because it was at a gun show and there was a line for the background checks.
|
Given my clean record and established history I don't see why I can't get a handgun with a NICS check.

And Democrats want SENSIBLE GUN CONTROL...

Here we see the truth of this world -
The whole point of the so-called "common sense gun control" is to prevent law abiding citizens access to their natural born, constitutionally protected right to self defense. Meanwhile, the government is allowing rampant criminality and rioting while denying that there is any duty to protect those same law abiding citizens. While New Jersey has enacted some of the strictest gun laws in the country what have they done about the rampant and open criminal behavior in Newark, Camden and Trenton? What about the open operation of the Mob and other criminal gangs, with their obvious ties to and support of prominent politicians? Here in PA our Governor would love to strip away our rights. A very thin majority of lawmakers is the only thing stopping him. With any luck enough voters can wake up and see the reality of what the politicians do after they have taken away our rights. I fear it may already be to late. |

My state has no restriction on carrying, concealed or otherwise. We have a permit process because of reciprocity deals with other states. I got it in the event I wanted to travel. |
PA just has the NICS check. Private parties can transfer long guns without involving the Government. State police aren't supposed to retain transfer records but they do.
Our right to keep and bear arms is in our State constitution as well as Federal. Open carry is legal, Concealed carry is "shall issue" and issued by County sheriffs. Some are more reasonable than others. State law preempts local regulation - which Philadelphia in particular doesn't like. You will likely get harassed for open carry in the City but they don't have any legal basis. There aren't any state restrictions on ammunition, magazines, NFA items or the other silliness. Gun ownership and use is pretty good here. Unfortunately, we get a lot of migrants from neighboring states who then want the same unconstitutional restrictions on their rights that they fled. |

Move to Ohio! It'll give me someone else to mess with about their "Jersey accent". :D
One of my close friends was born and raised in NJ. His entire family (and I mean entire family) moved from Joisey to OH about 8 years ago. |
I live in OH, but I do have to get a permit.
From my wife. :D (just kidding, she gave a up trying to keep the arsenal in check many moons ago) |
One of the stupid things in NY is waiting weeks for the courts to approve adding a pistol to an existing pistol permit.
So despite having a cleaner criminal record than most Nuns, and despite possessing several pistols and having gone through all this nonsense already, it’s going to be months before you can take that next one home. You have to pay the FFL in full to get the serial number, and then send in your amendment and waaaait. |
