Ketchup is history...
To me at least.
Growing up, my parents always only had ketchup and mustard for burgers and hot dogs. My father even used it on his eggs in the morning. Quite a few years ago, I quit using it in favor of Mayo or other toppings. (always with fresh onions) A few weeks ago, my sister suggested trying this HV spread. I'm hooked on it now. Doesn't take much...it's got a small am't of heat to it. With onions and cheese on a toasted bun...burgers have never been so good. Anyone else move away from ketchup and what do you use instead?

^^^ That's the only way I eat frys.
They have to be well done and crispy.

I always come back to ketchup on burgers, pinto beans, fries, stuffed peppers, meat loaf, chili, etc., etc.

I haven't used commercial ketchup in years. I switched to this stuff many years ago.
 Heinze makes the same stuff. It's not as sweet as ketchup and has a richer flavor. It's not hot at all, I don't know why they call it "chili." “Ketchup for adults” would be more accurate. When I was a kid dinner was often cornbread and Great Northern beans cooked with a ham bone. I would put ketchup in the bowl of beans. Sounds hideous, but I’ve been tempted to try it again just for the experience. For the past ten years or so I've made my own ketchup. MrsWD and I have adjusted the recipe over the years to get it just right.

Honey mustard dressing is tasty on burgers. Ketchup is no longer the go to for me for some time now.
If I'm doing keto, Aldi has carb free bread that has a mouth feel somewhere between cardboard and a Scotch-Brite pad. You really need to doll the burger up with juicy stuff to make it palatable, so honey mustard, ranch, mayo and a good mustard are go-tos to stifle the bread. Cheese and guac/tomato also but ketchup seldom makes the cut. If no keto and a sweet (literally) tasting bun I will use ketchup solo.

Fries dipped in Franks red hot is good.
Steak and shake has some good seasoning on their fries and you can buy it. I’ve only been there once but I bought some of the seasoning it was so good. Sweet and savory. I think it’s basically seasoning salt with with sugar so I mix it myself and put it on the fries as soon as they’re done. Then dip it in franks red hot. Very tasty. Tony |
