Indian FTR 1200 S...anyone have one? Thoughts?

Tossing around the idea of a new bike and have been eyeing up this Indian. I think its pretty cool looking. Gonna go test ride one later this week.

Anyone have one or ridden one? What are your thoughts of it?

Im about 6ft and it fit me nicely.
Price for what you get seems to be a little high but to support indian it may be worth it.
Have not ridden it as im mostly into old bmws/triumphs and the odd ducati.

I have read nothing but positive reviews. I have to say, I'm intrigued as well.

Yep, toss up between going in a little debt for a Cayman S or just buying one of these. Probably should do the smart thing but YOLO!

I don't own a FTR, but have seen them in person at the last IMS in Long Beach. Great looking bike and overall reviews qualify it as a well-rounded performer, but not really a special application.

I say go test-ride one. See how it feels on/off road for your style of riding.

I kinda look at it as a sporty cruiser. Something fun for the commute, upright style riding position with plenty of oomph for some fun. Going to wait for the wildfire smoke to clear out of here then go for a test ride. My buddy owns the local bike shop. Think I've purchased about 10 new bikes, etc from him over the years so should get a decent deal.

Looks good from 10 feet, but up close you would have to squint to find the engine in there. I think that’s a bike that I would buy, ride for a year, and then get rid of.

Looks good. Got a great Ducati look about it. I’d buy the Cayman first though

It has a Ducati look about it because it’s nearly a direct copy of the Ducati Diavel. Also worth a look.

Something about the Duc Diavel just doesn't work for me though. It's too bad as I'm a big fan of the brand.

The Diavel seems like more of a "cruiser", with a longer wheelbase, lower seat and ride height, and all of that. I think the Diavel is closer to the Indian Scout than it is to this thing, or more like the defunct V-Rod that it is to this FTR. This one is supposed to evoke Indian's successful flat tracker, albeit about twice its weight. I think Indian is shooting for the "street fighter" genre with this one. It's kind of too heavy for the "naked sport bike" category.

Had a victory v92c. Great bike. Built like a tank. Ten years of la commuting, all over the south west, up the Alcan. Finally backed over by a jackass in a mistubishi.

My problems were with the thin dealer network. And once a line was crossed in a ledger book Polaris abandoned the victory owners.

I think this is closer to the Diavel:

I'll add about the Diavel, I think its a Muscle cruiser, kind of a brute force machine like the Vmax.

Something about the FTR appeals to me. It might be that it's not in any category. More of a standard but kind of street fighter/hooligan type bike. I've sat on it and the position is really nice and upright but with a tilt toward sport.

Yup - I think "muscle cruiser" fits the genre well. Diavel, V-Rod, Scout, with the old V-Max, as a four, kind of pushing that boundary to the extreme.
